| Hail The Queen...
Golden Mile Food Centre is another place that I frequent with my family when we have no idea where to eat. This happened to us recently, when we can’t compromised where to eat so I suggest Golden Mile Food Centre, partially I wanted to check out the new QUEEN on the block - Ice Queen Ice Cream
Beautifully done up chalkboard with colorful writing of shop informations, a cheery sight indeed.
I ordered a medium cup with 2 flavors - earl grey tea and white sesame for $3.20. I’m a lover for anything sesame and no other sesame ice cream ever WOW me till this one. I must say, the white sesame gelato is real good stuffs. The flavor is so intense and I simple love every scoop of it. The earl grey tea is nice too, jus like ice earl grey tea with ice cream in it but I still prefer the white sesame. They’ve lots of other flavors like durian, strawberry, chocolate hazelnut, rum and raisin, milo, milk tea and many more…
Ice Queen Ice Cream will definitely pay a visit to the Queen every time I'm there for meals...You guys should try it too. :) |

| 100th Review Whee
Ok so I cheated but cmon 100th Review must be special mah. And I find this place is pretty Special. Why..
Cos since Iv patronised this place since i was a small chubby(ok overweight ok) kid, i have actually never checked out this level of the place. Iv been to where all the army stuff is sold and to the bottom level where the halal food and the best Bone steak is sold but just didnt have a reason to check out this level. Even when that Belgian waffles place was being raved abt i didnt go there. Terrible right.
But I was having a weird craving for ice scream and went on a ice cream rampage. My poor bf was amazed i could walk all the way from where Tom's Palate was(armed with my large cup or tiramisu and butter pecan ice cream) all the way here just to try out Ice Queen. I was determined to try out the gelato and ok so i caved and took a bus from bussorah street there but hey i still walked ok..or at least i was determined to. And I was in 3 inch heels. Try walking around in em and ull take a bus too.
It was quite easy to find the stall and we were greeted by a friendly auntie who was nice enough to let us try most of the flavours. Tried the durian, Black Sesame, Chocolate Hazelnut, Mocca. I liked most of the stuff but my favourite was the Kahlua & Rum n Raisin and the peanut one. It was peanut not peanut butter. So i decided to get the medium($3.50 i tink) mix of the two..the gelato was not too heavy, and mildly sweet but i really liked how the peanut really tasted like there was peanuts in it. i mean not the cruncy crunchy ones but its did remind me abit of peanut butter. And the kahlua rum n raisin was oh so sinfully good. Think I love it as much as I love the Bourbon and Baileys from U.D.D.E.R.S.
So in less than 2 hours I ate ice cream from 2 different places. I also realised I had two alcohol based ones and 2 nut based ones. How ironicle is that. I have to admit when it comes to ice cream, Im a sucker for alcohol and nut based ones. Somehow the chocolate ones just dont do it for me.
But when it comes down to cakes and other desserts..bring on the chocolates!!! |

| Cheap and nice gelato ice cream..
Upon recommendations from ice, I was led here to try out the gelato ice-creams here.
A hawker stall in a food centre hawking gelato ice-creams, ironically the stall is just diagonally opposite the Ah Balling stall. :P Interestingly done up, ala chalkboard style with coloured chalk used to pen the shop name and other information.
A myraid of flavours lined the counter, such as, Peanut, Black Sesame, Mocha, Durian, Rum & Raisin, Sour Plum, etc.
Bought a medium cup with 2 flavours (black sesame and mocha) for only $3.20. Auntie was pretty generous with the gelato and really packed it in. :)
Now, its hard for me to rave about black sesame ice cream in SG, solely cos I tasted much better ones overseas. But generally the black sesame here is not so bad and cheap to boot. Of cos it can be slightly stronger in taste and fragrance (personal preference). Anyways, out of the 2 flavours that I bought, I like the mocha most! Really. Its essentially a relatively strong brew of mocha packed into gelato form. Yums.
Taste tested durian and peanut flavours, which I find the durian gelato unsatisfying for me. I love a stronger taste and smell of durian in my ice-creams. Peanut flavour is not bad, good for peanut lovers really. :)
So patrons of Golden Mile food centre now have one more option for desserts after their meals. :P |
