Ikea's happy setting

I think Ikea's a happy place with all the colourful and nice furnitures and all.
Perhaps it's because of the influence of all that i've seen before i sat down, or it was really the atmosphere of the restaurant.. i thought the atmosphere was casual and happy
You'll probably have heard all about the meatballs by now..
but i can say again.. yes, the meatballs are good!
i bought a packet home to microwave and it still does taste good!
the meatball pasta was nice, along with the sauce.
the nasi goreng was ok~
but i did enjoy the sweet chili sauce.
Haven't tried the fried chicken wing, but the piece of fried chicken was not bad, though not fantastic.
Oh! and the chocolate mousse is nice too. not too sweet :)
so that was a nice ending to my meal
oh, and food is not expensive, so if you happen to be around the area, do drop by to have lunch

Must Tries: meatballs

Only the daily specials...

Forget everything else and stick with the daily specials (menu changes from month to month). Lets be really honest here Ikea restaurant is a canteen no matter how it is dressed up to be. Don't expect miracles from a canteen. It reminds me of my college dorm canteen as far as food goes. The same bain marie style service counters and the same way they cook the food....

The broccoli side is just soft and mushy (no crunch) so if you are those who like soggy broccoli (actually have to admit I miss college food so much I gobble this stuff up in minutes). Ikea serves the perfect soggy broccoli especially with the white sauce. The serving is large and worth the price $1.50 i think (don't quote me) for ordering it as a side... If you only STRICTLY like crunch broccoli please pass on this. =P

The potatoes is the same. It is just "dorm food" quality but it will appeal to the nostalgic bunch.....lump me in as well =)

Stick with the daily specials (may it be the salmon, meat balls or what not) cos the price - value proposition is there otherwise I if I have to pay more than $5 for the stuff I don't think it is worth the $$$$ since it is all practically instant and sold at that "food market" where they sell hotdogs. Meatballs, salmon, sauce etc. the whole ten yards.

Also ifg you have your ikea friend card bring it along. They have some friends card menu discount off some dishes. But more importantly you get free soft drinks with the card. Freebie is always good... =)

Will I go back - I always do when I miss my college days and want to bring back some memories of being a hungry student gobbling up "dorm food". Canteen ambience, canteen food, not much there to shout about just a good place to rest your feet (if u can find one) after some long walking in the shop.

Meat Balls

I have tried meatballs at IKEA Restaurant & Cafe (Tampines). It was good especially the sauce. I notice they do sell them at their supermarket. Was wonder will it taste as good if I buy them back and prepare them myself? :)

Anyway it is quite difficult to get a table on a weekend or during weekday lunch/dinner time.

Cheap Affordable and Good !!!

meatballs meatballs meatballs! =)

hahaha. one of my all time favourite! too bad the food they served are not halal. =X

alwayz alwayz will go for the meatballs. chicken wings. set meal of the day. mabe ending it with a apple crumble or cheesecake. =) i think i am a glutton. =)

the meatballs. hmmmz. not sure what they put inside the meatballs that makes me crave for them like hell. =X or perhaps it is the gravy that makes it more appealing to the tastebuds. =)

chicken wings are alwayz hot hot hot! and crispy. =)

i love the set meals. more choices. the curry chicken and sweet and sour fish are definitely worth a mention. =)

juz take note to avoid the lunch and dinner crowd. otherwise you really can't get a seat even for 2. =X but good place to sit and chill if there are no crowds around. =)
