Upon sitting down promptly at 8 and ordering my initial order of sashimi moriawase and additional salmon sashimi, I was quite bewildered when the waitress questioned my appetite and whether I was able to finish all the sashimi that I was ordering, and instead she determined that we should just order the Sashimi moriawase first and leave the rest of the sashimi for the next order.
Considering this is a Japanese all you can eat, I certainly am well aware of how much I can finish, thanks to the staff for your consideration, and of course I would also never order more than I can finish (Food wastage would have been charged at price anyways)... However, considering her recommendation, I agreed and just ordered the single portion of Sashimi moriawase, with my companion ordering other side dishes that I was not interested in.
Happily after finishing my first dish within minutes, I proceeded to ask the waitress again to order my salmon sashimi, a miso soup, the calamansi infused teapot soup and other side dishes.
Awaiting patiently, I saw nearby tables being served the calamansi infused soup. 4 or 5 tables at the same time for efficiency I guess - but not my table. I therefore courteously asked the waiter to check on my orders as it has been a while.
I haven't heard back from this waitress after that.
Quite a while passed again before I started getting impatient about my food order, with literally no food being served to me at all since my last request for service. This time I asked a male waiter to check on my order for me, hoping that he can expedite my order.
He quickly checked with the kitchen and informed me that my order will be out in a moment.
Feeling relieved, I checked my clock - 20:50 on the dot.
Again patiently I awaited for a full 20 minutes - 21:10, with still not a sight of my order before neither my appetite nor patience could stand it any longer. I had to actually get out of my seat and speak to the manager or Person in Charge there in order to actually get someone's attention to check on my order for real!
It really is quite shameful for the restaurant to stretch the tolerance of its diners to the limits of having to ask the staff to check the status of the order, not once, not twice but three times before any action was taken. And all because the staff did not want to take my initial order
Having been to many Japanese restaurants as well as various Japanese all you can eat restaurants, never had I had to wait 70 minutes from the time of my initial order to be served the food that I ordered.
Although the quality of the food at Ikoi is good, their awful service score of 0 unfortunately spoiled my entire dining experience.
I spent $45 per person.
