This is by far one of the better Japanese buffet I went in Singapore. They have a wide selection and yes being a typical Singaporean, I attacked the sashimi. And alot of it.
- Salmon Sashimi
- Swordfish Sashimi
- Fresh Prawns (additional charge)
Their soup is very well done too. and not forgetting the handrolls. Yes will visit again cause its only $40 ++ per pax where you can eat till you drop :)
First Impression: The restaurant clearly attempts to cut corners. Wasabi is not freshly ground; instead imitation wasabi is used. Food: Sashimi was, on the whole, average. Although the salmon was relatively fresh, however the rest of the sashimi (mekajiki/swordfish or tuna) were only mediocre. Katsu curry race seems to have came out from an elementary school canteen. We acknowledge that, being a buffet style restaurant, the kitchen may want to save costs by decreasing portion size. However, the portions given were ridiculously microscopic: the tonkatsu was only the size of one's pinkie finger! Service: Absolutely off putting. It is Ironic that a sign states: we would try every effort to serve you better, but when we wanted To order an ala carte clear soup, they didn't understand. The waiters here are either filipino or native Chinese, so most do not have a acceptable grasp of English. Strangely it seems like speaking Chinese in a Japanese restaurant is a greater asset than Japanese itself.
Finally here after many failed attempts! True to majority of the reviews this is recommended if you're looking for an affordable place for your sashimi and sushi fix. I love the quaint setting of this Japanese restaurant, and the service was good.
p/s: Ikoi over Irodori for now ;)
Ignore the other reviews about slow service.
Apparently Singaporeans don't appreciate waiting for good food. They don't seem to understand well that at Ikoi, you get your money's worth of quality of food. They take a while to prepare it so that it reaches your table HOT and FRESHLY COOKED.
I cannot emphasize enough about how i always bring friends here to eat, especially if they want good sashimi for a worthy price. Everything here is so good. The food is amazing, and the staff are all very polite (even the new trainees)! They will do their best to explain certain things to you if you don't know what it is when you're ordering.
Either way, I always enjoy myself here and I eat to my fullest. It's all about knowing how to work around ala-carte bufets (not just sit there and complain about slow service). After all, if you don't know how to wait for good things in life, don't wait.
I love the food served. The waiting time is quite long for the second round of food. But the sashimi is fresh and good. Love the tempura too!
Overall is good. No complaints except for the waiting.
We also have to make reservation in advance.
Went for this buffet because heard so much about it!
Rating: ok ok only.
Sashimi is fresh but everything else is normal,
Nothing to shout about.
Plus the space is so cramp and cant find a service staff to order.
I won't said is very cheap price
