Irodori is a simple and chic-looking Japanese restaurant that promises good food at decent prices. Expect quality food – to be sure, we are excluding the leagues of Shinji and Aoki – from their a la carte buffet menu of Japanese cuisine mainstays. Conveniently located at Havelock Road, it is only a short journey to travel from school if you have cravings to satisfy.
We started with the complimentary Ebi Mentai Mayo (grilled tiger prawn). A pity this dish cannot be ordered again because it was one of the more noteworthy dishes, grilled to goodness. For a few fleeting moments of eating this, I had the sudden thought that mayo should used everywhere.
The buffet menu has a wide variety of choices and some of the dishes you have to order include the Sashimi Moriawase. The beautifully plated sashimi includes a mixture ofShake (salmon), Maguro (tuna), Hamachi (yellow tail), Mekajiki (sword fish), Tako (octopus) and Tai (snapper). They give very generous cuts of the sashimi which is fresh and smooth. Waiting time for this dish will be longer on crowded days because everyone will be ordering sashimi (which is the main point of a Japanese buffet after all). Kudos to the tako. I had many slices that were glossily tender and filled with briny sweetness while a few did fall a bit below that.
There’s no way we would pass up the chance to have a simple Chawanmushi. Intensely savory, smooth, custardy, you could pick out the use of a really rich dashi or chicken stock. All the better when it was pouring outside at that time.
I would like to share our experience during our dinner dining at Irodori River View Outlet. It was amazingly great to dine in this Japanese Restaurant with the freshes sashimi with good quality ever tasted here in Singapore in which I really love Japanese foods. We were dining during weekend and we were shocked because the restaurant was a bit crowded and we scared of the service that they can offer to us. The time that we go in the staffs promotly bring us to our table as we reserved with my circle of friends. The time that we placed our other with the Filipino guy he intoduce to us the foods that are usually the previous customers order because we are first timer to dine here. we are asking his assistance to order the first order and all of those were great taste. As I remember the special maki was pretty good, prawn tempura, the grilled prawn which we like it so much and etc..
all I can say that, it was superb dining despite of busyness crowd they are patiently serving the customer with a smile and helping each other to satisfied the customer.
I will surely recommend this place for those sashimi lovers whom my other friends. The try this restaurant for they are friendly and patiently serving the customer despite of busy.
Thumbs up to the service team. :)))
This is the place to go if you are into fresh sashimi and want a lot of it yet not wanting to burn a hole in your pocket.
It's a buffet that is $36.80 and 15% discount for lunch with some credit cards promotion.
The sashimi is very fresh and the cuts are generously thick.
The donburi teapot soup is superb we have so many of it!
Sushi is so so because of the rice which seems a bit hard and not sticky sweet.
So just have sashimi if you are into fresh fish.
Their tako balls and yakitori are not so nice but the special maki and hand roll are good.
Service wise, not as slow as some comments here, they are busy yes, but usually easy to get them to serve you on your orders or changing plates.
The only thing that spoil our joy a bit is that 2 senior Filipino captains.
For some reason their face is so black and they don't serve you with any smile, and when the bill was incorrect when I point out, no apology no nothing just take it back and then throw to my table again to sign.
The male captain, when we ask him to take order he was pretty impatient and just don't give you any eyes contact nor speak anything!
That really spoil our mood a bit.
Hope they can know in service line you have to hide your frustration or moody mood no matter when you are serving your customers.
For the freshness of sashimi, i will give them 5 stars. However the grilled menu is a bit salty and the restaurant is clearly under-staff. It is common to wait for 15 min to find someone to attend to you.
One of Japanese restaurants with a widespread selection to choose from. The tempura is always freshly fried and crispy. I have never been served warm flaccid tempura! Yellow tail and salmon sashimi are always fresh and yummy. I never fail to order their fried rice and curry rice as I'm a carbo lover! The tea pot soup is flavourful. California handroll and spider temaki is always fresh too. My colleagues love the prawns with mentaiko. Service is efficient and prompt. Definitely my favorite lunch haunt. The buffet always has a credit card promotion tied to it so the price is reasonable.
