terrible service/zero service - avoid
03 Apr 2013I visited the place at a non-peak hour day with more staff chatting amongst themselves than customers at tables. As I was seated outside, and noticed that no one approached me for order, I went up and found a waiter and showed where I was seated and asked if I could order. After 10 mins, still no one came to take my order, I went inside the cafe and found myself a seat. As the waitress happened to be clearing the table, she brought me a menu and set my table. From then onwards, I waited nearly 25 mins until someone came to ask for my order. I changed my mind for a meal but instead had a drink. During the 25 mins as I looked around to catch someone eyes for service, the staff seem to be busy with themselves with at least 2 cashier standing talking to themselves. Even more cynical when I saw a Caucasian staff (look like the in-charge) walking in and out of the office next to the cashier with another non-uniform person checking on the stock, absolutely oblivious about any customer (right before their eyes) waiting for service. The staff seem to look generally unhappy and demotivated, hence am not surprised that the word service does not exists in this shop. Yes, indeed the place does look conducive and nice and perhaps the food is good, but if the restaurant does not support its staff and know what is service, then I suggest none of us, who is in fact generating their revenue, support their restaurant.

Thumbs up for the sandwich
31 Mar 2013I ordered a jones club, requesting for the sauce to be served separately. Loved the toasted bread with a nice charred aroma, the bacon though it lacked melt-in-the-mouth fats and might be too hard for some, and the fried egg. While the grilled chicken was a tad bland and dry, it went well with the rest of the ingredients including the raw lettuce and avocado. With a side salad in tart dressing, the meal was well-balanced not just in terms of taste and texture but also nutritional value and portion. Terrible service & very poor value for money
30 Dec 2012I went for Saturday during lunch time. I had read about the reviews for the place, but still went despite being warned about the hype. I should have stayed away.
The service is atrocious. The place is popular as it has a queue at many times during weekends, and the impression you get from the staff is that you are being done a favour by getting you a seat.
We had to wait for 10 mins for a seat and the woman attending to us was disinterested in what we wanted, just that there wasn't a place outside ...
Anyway, we got seated and had to keep waving to passing staff to catch their attention. We finally got a newbie, big on smiles, zero on what was available. She went to look for a senior, and didn't return, After some time we started to wave about again, this time got someone with the menus and who took the orders. We ordered the Jones breakfast, which came very fast, because it was already ready - and it was cold. The food was just about OK, nothing spectacular. The orders for coffee came but the request for milk was forgotten and we had to wave around for attention - the milk came in 10 mins while the coffee got cold. The bill for breakfast for 2 with coffee and one slice of cake was $80 ..... something I would pay for a much better level of service.
Bottom line, the service is terrible - they just don't seen to care and there is no one around whom you could complain to. The service and the food don't match with the cost - even if I was paying about half then I would have a problem with the cost. It seems populated with expats and local hanger-on, who somehow seem to tolerate the bad service.
My advice is avoid this place to avoid disappointment, Singapore has many better places than this one.
