The real deal.
Aug 25, 2008This has GOT to be the one with the real deal, the one where it just oozes of old time kopi tiam corner glamour and one that's been my mom and I's favourite haunt when I was a wee girl. Forget the franchises. This is the one where I crave for their delectable French toast with the nice slab of homemade butter, just the right hint of saltiness and their creamy pale orange-green kaya(can you imagine what a wierd looking color combi this is but yet tastes so good???), which has the right amount of grainy-ness.
Delicious lip smacking french toast. This is the ONLY place I will eat french toast, save for the one mom makes. =D And that's saying alot. French toast around Singapore just ain't that crisp on the outside and just the right texture on the inside. Mind you, no sogginess for frenchtoast man. Wang Jiao does a damn bad job on their french toast. No offence to the owner, who'll probably kill me if he finds out I said this... =x But anyway, I don't talk to him that much.
Back to the real deal though. What's with all the franchises? It's detrimental to the real gem leh!!!
Anyway. Nice good Teh... Been awhile old pal. I'll want my french toast again soon... ER.. Hope no cockroaches arh. I remember the time where I saw one skittling around and I almost jumped up my chair.Must Tries

Jun 25, 2008I always love to eat in killiney, and i am glad to see them selling more food items on the menu. Coffee and kaya toast is the usual breakfast for me, and it has never failed to brighten my day.
Up to now, i have tried their chee cheong fun, mee rebus and soya bean with grass jelly. Its' really very nice. I wonder how can such simple food taste so nice, i think they really put in alot of work in preparing the food. Love this place, their service is really fast.Must Tries

Everybody love kaya toast
May 8, 2009Hands up if you don’t like kaya toast! From the freshly baked white bread toasted to perfection, the sweet and fragrant home-made kaya and the slightly melted butter, it was a combination of everything so simple. The truth to be told, this was one my first time trying Killiney’s toast, and I have not tried Ya Kun’s one yet. I know, i know.
Logically speaking, we can just buy their bread, the kaya, and the butter to make ourselves at home. But, somehow it is impossible to replicate the same slice of toast when we d-i-y. So I will like to think that it is their skills and the toaster that makes the difference. Killiney’s famous bread toast ($0.80 per piece).
For those who prefer to have more substantial portion for breakfast, the French loaf toast ($1.80) might be a better option. More kaya, more kaya!
I was surprised by the revelation of eating French toast with kaya ($1.60 per piece). I have never, ever tried eating French toast with kaya before, and I did not even harboured the thought that it could be done. Oh-my! This is one which you either love it, or hate it.
Unfortunately both of us do not drink coffee, and we chose the ice barley over hot tea due to the weather conditions. All along I thought that Killiney is famous for their kaya toast and kopi. But they also served food like curry chicken, mee siam, and mee rubus.
You are always welcome to visit ladyironchef for a full-up on this trip. Whatever written herein are my genuine feelings expressed in words. Food, my dear, is what they call an adventure!

Ole fashioned Kaya toast b/f
Aug 30, 2007Passed by there yesterday on an early morn errand. Had the usual half boiled eggs, kaya toast n tea.
After so many years the kaya toast still taste great. Kaya's spread pretty generous n butter's thick between the slices. Have always preferred this to Ya Kun and all the others wannabes. Sadly, only their main branch is gd. The other outlets, some of which are franchised, are lacking. Office workers nearby crowd the place in the morns n afternoons during their breaks.Must Tries

Typical Singapore Kaya, eggs and Coffee
Jul 29, 2007Been eating at this original Killiney coffee shop since 3-yrs ago, the only change is the price.
Food / Beverage: Unevenly cut bread, slabs of butter and coconut kaya (organge color) still the same as ever, coffee and tea were excellent quality. Keep it up Killiney Kopitiam. Wonder if it is as good in the other locations???
Ambience: Marble tables and wooden top tables still around, love the square wooden stools - gives it a certain originality. Cheap to maintain too. Still hot and stuffy as before - don't lose it.
Value: Excellent value.
Service: Pleasant man (young man with long hair) takes orders promptly and delivers to you in and instant.
Never had a chance to try the other stuff though.Must Tries
Cannot walk past without a kaya toast with butter and tea!
