jap deli
Nov 9, 2009The jap deli is called kimochi.
In jap, it means feelings.
They specialised in jap sandwiches, salads and desserts.
The deli is quite small and the salad bar is where the salads are prepared fresh.
I ordered a japanese caesar salad($8.80) and got a complimentary mushroom soup.
The mushroom soup is not too creamy and there were bits of mushrooms and croutons in it.
The jap caesar came in a bigger portion than i expected. Generous bed of lettuce, capsicums, celery, cucumbers, raddish cut into shape of a star, croutons, cherry tomatoes, mozarella cheese and served with sesame dressing. It was well-presented... well, jap products are normal well-packaged. I did not like the sesame dressing as it was too salty. The salad leaves and other ingredients were fresh and crunchy.
I did not manage to finish it thus i requested for the left-over to be packed home and they gladly obliged.
There are other salads and jap desserts as well. Do try this jap deli out.I also recommend this place for

First Visit
Oct 20, 2009Portion is quite ok -
Ordered the yakiniku beef sandwich. can choose 3 types of bread with weird name i cant pronounce, all i know is the waitress simplified it for me, ( jap / french / italy bread ). haha. i choose jap bread.
Saw the chef started cooking the yakiniku on the spot.
the sauce is nice and warm, the beef feel just right and filling. i was initially afraid i might not be full.
It was served with a little side salad and a free soup or drink.
choose soup and selected mushroom soup.
Was sceptical about mushroom soup but not sure what the 2 other soups were, ( in jap )
lucky it did not disappoint, creamy enough with just right taste IMO. some place mushroom soup like so watery and no mushroom at all.
GF orderd salad, the japanese cesear salad, well i am not a salad guy, but a sauce guy, any thing with good sauce i like.
GF convinced me to try it, the sauce is well....... i am not an expert on salad, all i can say is presentation is nice, full of veg, colorful and mixed it up with the "special sauce by chef" overall taste not bad.
But u better go try it yourself. haha... for me salad is like veg rojak! haha
I ordered a drink to share with GF - ice lemon green tea.... then realised they serve ice water... duh.
but still ok. the drink is quite different from usual... ice lemon green tea...who will thought of that.
Was taking my time there while waiting till time to watch the movie "the ugly truth"
Crowd seems ok, not so pack, so not too noisy.
overall damage about $20.
So i think ok. maybe next time i will try the wagyu beef sandwich or black pork sandwich.I also recommend this place for
