Went there recently with the missus.  The chicken is what you're there for but they have quite a bit of standard korean fare which is quite good too.  The place was packed when we arrived, but managed to just sit at the bar to eat instantly... A few different flavors of chicken, but overall, the regular un-flavored was by far the best.  Somewhat expensive, but you get what you pay for...

My wife and I came to this place due to high recommendation from hungrygowhere. We arrived around 8pm where the place was packed with people having dinner and "just for chat and drink". We waited for around 20 minutes and was "ignored" by the waitresses as if we did not exist there. Finally we got the seat after we took the table ourselves when we saw a group leaving the place and the table was empty. They still ignored us until we really called them to clean up the table and gave us the menu.

It all does not really matter if the food was really good. Unfortunately the food was not as good as the review written here. The portion was small, the price was exorbitant and the taste was just so-so.

The history of Kko Kko Nara: it was started because of a popular Korean tv drama about fried chicken but according to 14K, the standards of the fried chicken has dropped so you might as well go to Chicken Up. You now know what Kko Kko is? it's Kko kko kko kko gayyyyyyy - the crow of the a cock! Kko kko Nara is so successful that it has two branches, out of which one is a karaoke bar. So bizarre.

We ordered Stew with spam (Bu Dae Jji Gae, $35) and rice ($2 or $3):

The rice: If you order just rice, it's $2. If you add $1 more, you can have the bento set, which includes three kimchi, an omelette and a thin slice of hotdog. I know it's just rice, but it's tasty rice, unlike thai rice. It's sweet and yummy. I like it that the three kimchi are different, ikan bilis, cabbage and tofu in different sauces. I hate hate hate hate kimchi--because it's my principle to hate all healthy food--so I hate it even more when restaurants give different types of veg soaked in the same spicy sauce. So this restaurant wins in the diversity of taste.

I'd have ordered a different stew, one with less processed food and more real meat. This stew has spam, hotdog, golden mushroom, shitaki mushroom, vegetables, tofu, and--surprise!--baked beans. Like that lor. The stew was rather similar to the one I ate in New York, and since that New York restaurant was run by Koreans, I suppose it's authentic. The stew tasted like kimchi sauce but wasn't sourish, it was sweeter.

Dark and sexy atmosphere. There were privacy screens for each booth, so you can have much er... privacy. Service is minimal intrusion--good to bring your mistress here. Fun thing about the service: there is a button to ring for service. Fun! Ding dong ding dong ding dong!

Lunch is reasonable, dinner is expensive. Don't forget the chicken - though it's expensive even at lunch

    Must tries: Korean Fried Chicken

Finally after many thwarted attempts to visit

this cult establishment, we managed to sneak in for a little indulgent supper.

Service was pretty nonexistent – we were ignored until I marched into the back

of the restaurant and made our presence felt. No fault of the lone waitress who

had her hands full with an almost full-house at midnight!

Menu offers a good selection of classic Korean

dishes, all in authentic sharing portions, meaning that parties of two will

enjoy sampling no more than one other dish each visit, in addition to the

mandatory chicken. We opted for the Kimchi Jun (kimchi pancake), which was of

the doughy variety I like (i.e. not crisp), and chock full of the pungent

pickle. Delicious and full of spicy kick, but three huge slabs was too much for

    the two of us.

The chicken combo was a nice sampler that

allowed us to try the original, garlic and sweet & spicy versions. We liked

both the dry ones, but found the spicy one slathered in hot sauce a tad cloying

(lovers of American buffalo wings might like this!). Chicken pieces were small

but the meat was juicy and sweet, bursting with flavours of the marinade…highly

    addictive!

Thumbs up for this hold-in-the wall….don’t

expect five-star ambience, but the food is the highlight here!

This place has very good fried chicken. I dined at the restaurant on Thursday night and went back within the same week to have supper. They have 4 kinds of friend chicken. Chicken is crispy and does not have the stale oil taste. It is very addictive. Be sure to drink beer with chicken if you are eating it twice in a week because friend chicken is very heaty!

Here's my take on the chicken

Original chicken- The most plain of the 4. Better to try the other 3

Garlic chicken - slightly sweet but FANTASTIC

Sweet and Spicy chicken- another of my favorite

Hot and Spicy chicken - Too hot for my enjoyment

We also had seafood noodle kimchi and kimchi soup tuna on two occasions. Both portions are generous. It comes in steamboat style. The kimchi soup is tasty and they add in extra chili for extra spiciness .

When we came for supper on sat night at 12am, there were 5 tables still occupied and they were all Koreans. It feels rather authentic and I actually felt like I was in Korea. I found out this place actually closes at 4am. A hidden place to go after a night out of clubbing.

As for the restaurant ambiance, it is rather dark and cozy with K-pop music playing and TV playing Korean adverts/drama. The booth is very high and it seems hard giving you privacy but it is also hard to get the waitress's attention. However, there is actually a bell at the side of the table. Give it a buzz and you will get their attention very quickly.

    Must tries: garlic fried chicken

This place was recommended by a frd of mine who ride harley and his gf. They strongly urge me to come and try the fried chicken. They say i will definitely like this place. They say this place is open for people like me who work late and sleep late..

It is not too difficult for me to find the way there cos i used to work at tanjong pagar. It is located very near to tanjong pagar mrt and as for parking, if you go at late nite there shouldn't be any problem but if is weekends and early nite might have some difficulty cos there are alot of pubs around.

When i first reach, i really doubt that it is a korean restaurant. There is a bar counter and alot of cushion seats with partition and the light is dim. It is more like a pub than restaurant. We were urshered by a korean lady to the biggest table ( one and only so if is a big group must call to make reservation). The 1st impression was good cos majoriy of the customers were korean. This place must be an authentic korean restaurant and we reached there at about 1.30am on a weekday, the shop fully packed.

We ordered their famous sweet & spicy chicken (whole) $35, kimchi soup, pancake, steamboat, spicy squid, and bento (rice with an egg).

Sweet & spicy chicken is sedap.. yummy.... In less than 5 mins the plate is empty and we re-oder another plate. The chicken is crispy, hot&juicy, the sauce is nice thought will be very hot but still okie. The kimchi soup so so, ju shin don is much better. The steamboat also not very fantastic and we choose pork in the end more of a vegetable steamboat not worth the money. Pancake is good well-liked by my friends but i dun really like. Do not attempt the spicy squid, cos is cold (but is a cold dish) and too sour think they add alot of vinegar. We didnt touch much and is ex lorr.. My favourite.......... BENTO rice....Is just rice and egg but is so nice that i will miss after many days later.. and always selling fast..at $2 each.

The drink is very ex also.. coke is i think $3 or $3.50.. but they provide ice water so we can save on that. After meal, we stayed there for awhile to chit chat .. The ambience is good for friends to hang out and relax.

In conclusion.. this is place worth trying.. and if you have craving at late nite.. THIS IS THE PLACE...

Must tries: bento rice, sweet spicy chicken

Be warned! If you do not like chicken, do not step into this bar/restaurant for it has more chickenfare than KFC. I love chicken, I love K-drama, K-guys, K-love stories so I will definitely be back!

I had buffet in the day and would usually reject any supper. However, my friend knows that I cannot resist excellent fried chicken wings. So there I was at KKNR, technically this morning, chomping on those irresistable crispy morsels of fried chicken skin with juicy flesh. The spicy chicken ($20) were deep-fried then dipped into a sweet and spicy sauce. Tasted like great buffalo wings with an asian twist due to the garlic/ginger marinade used.

The fried garlic chicken ($20) were even better, the wings looked as if they were little harmless fellows on plate but wow they were really unique with a fantastic blend of garlic and herbal taste. Think chicken found in herbal soup but deep-fried till the skin became crackly and crisp. Both spicy and garlic chicken had shredded radish as sides because koreans believe that radish can counteract the heatiness of deep-fried food.

We also had the soon dae ($25) which was basically steamed intestine stuffed with vermicelli. I always wanted to try this as those usually gentle and slim female protagonists in k-dramas tend to munch on them "uncouthly" but the male protagonists still loved them. The soon dae can be eaten together with either fermented bean paste or simply chilli powder and salt. Yummy!

All these authentic korean fare cannot be completed without beer or wine. We had a fruity wine, san sa choon ($28). Apparently, the alcohol content is rather high but the fruity taste kinda masked its potency.

The bill came up rather high for a supper treat but the food was great and the place was really crowded at wee hours. The last korean meal I had near my terrible workplace had the same sauce for all the dishes we ordered and thus left a bad impression. I thought I will not crave for any korean food till Kko Kko Nara, I will definitely be back soon.

Must tries: garlic wings, soon dae, san sa choon

This little place was tucked right at the back of a whole stretch of bridal shop. A little secluded, I must say.

First enter, I’m unsure to categorise it as a restaurant or bar. It resembled both. The light was dim, enough vision to view the menu and have a proper meal.

    My friend and I ordered:

    - Garlic Sauce Chicken (The crispiness of the skin was immersed with garlic and honey (sweetness of it), fried at the right time and served hot. Needless to say, it is ‘finger licking great’.)

    - Spicy Rice Cake (I’m not a fan of ‘chup ba lang’ (add everything). This dish resembled like a plate of fried rice, where a lot of different ingredients were added. You will find (bland) rice cake shape penne-like, maggi mee, vermicelli, vegetable, tau-po skin, gyoza. Not my type of dish.)

Korean traditional porridge and kimchi are for free. The kimchi was a little different, usually sweet and a little spicy. Over here, it is sweet and a little bitter. The porridge was burned, by the look at the charred-rice.

Price: This place is expensive. The garlic sauce chicken, served with 4 wings cost $20 (excludes service charge) and the spicy rice cake at $28 (excludes SC). But the garlic sauce chicken make this visit worthwhile.

PS: Served by authentic Korean people.
