the cartoon icon outside the restaurant caught the attention of my 5 year old daughter who was later attracted by the open concept of chef cooking in front of store. so we decided to be adventurous and try it out, we ordered salmon udon and my daughter slurped it to the last drop. i had the burger with extra order of onion, and it melted in my mouth. i also ordered lunch take away for my hubby, and he too enjoyed the burger with onion ring. i feel the price is afforable for a made-to-order burger, and the taste is good. yes it's pretty pack during lunch time when i was there, my daughter insist on buying a pack of chocolate cookies before we left, surprisingly it was superb, we'll be back for more. |

| Udon is Good
I have walked past here many times and I see many ordering the burgers. However, I decided to be different and tried the udon, which I found to be very tasty - although a little high in MSG.
The beef is tender, but I suspect that a lot of tenderizer was used as there was some lost in natural flavours. So, if you are tired or ordering burgers, the udon is another good alternative. |

| Eat This!
So I am hungry and I am wondering where to go for lunch. I walk by this place and I see it packed with people eating burgers and that by itself draws me in.
After finding a seat in this small joint, I place my order form at my counter for my $16 burger. Yes you heard it right. I decided to go for the five patty burger. The meat is a little oily but very tasty and definitely better than your typical fast food burgers. However, the size of the burger is small and comparing it to the triple whopper I had at Burger King this is still less filling. I actually did not feel very stuffed after having the five patty burger. The onion rings that come with it were just fried and tasted pretty good.
Price point, I have to agree with Picky Gourmet that while it is better than the usual burger joints it tends to be a little on the high side. Also be prepared for longer waiting times duing meal hours. |

| "Japanese" burger joint
Everything here is teppan cooked if it is ala minute. Basically the mumbo jumbo aside this is a burger joint. Choose the meat and number of patties, choose the bun, decide if you want cheese to add on ($1) or an assorted number of things to go with burger like eggs, mushrooms etc. Then decide if you want to "make it a set" for $2.95 which includes fries and a can drink. It does add up pretty fast if you are not careful here. a two patty beef burger is at a base cost of $5.80 + swiss cheese $1 + egg $1 is already $7.80 if you go for the set it is $10.75, that to me is very expensive to eat fast food burger.
Beef patty definitely better than macs but do consider that a double cheese cost $2 at Macs and $6.80 here. You have to decide yourself if a fancy bun, and better beef is worth $4.80... Personally, the find the patty lacking any natural flavors of beef and perhaps a little too much bread crumb (typical of Japanese style burger to use panko) making it rather "starchy". I don't taste much of onions or bite into any as it is my understanding that usage of onions should be more generous...
Bottom line: It ain't bad at all...but i find the price a little harder to swallow for a burger (it is not like they use top grade beef)... so I guess I will still hop back to Macs and settle for $2 double cheese if I just want to fill up. They do sell some bento as well if you are inclined... |
