| sit on the floor and enjoy
Lagnaa is a little Indian restaurant in a shophouse at Little India, but very different from your typical Indian restaurant.
The theme is barefoot dining. If you go to the main dining floor on level 2, you'll leave your shoes downstairs. You sit barefoot on the floor (they have cushions and little seats too if you need them) at a low table.
The crowd can be varied. The last time I was there, it was diverse groups people - HK, Japanese, and Caucasian... before that, I saw a large Singaporean group.
They serve a small selection of excellent Indian dishes and have specials off the menu as well. If you fancy something off the menu, ask and they'll see if they can accomodate. The senior staff are happy to recommend dishes to you if you need help. There are 6 spice levels and you can order to suit your tastebuds. You can get Kingfisher beer from India here (or another 6 or so other Indian beers) too.
I had the new specialty, dory fish with capsicum, mutton masala (level 2 spice), tandoori jhingga, cheese naan, Royal Challenge Indian beer, lassi, kulfi. The general food level was very good, as was service from the senior staff. My Indian guests from Dubai gave it the thumbs up, as did my Filipino guest!
Once a month they have a full moon party, where they teach one person to make chappati and this guy then has to teach the others to make their own. Now they also have an occasional spice challenge where people challenge to go beyond level 6 spice. |

| World away from Little India
Excellant place.
It's tagline is barefoot dining. Yes its literally it is as it is really clean place. One should not be turn off by this.
Its a double-storey shophouse. The ground floor will always be empty as everyone will up. The crowd is mostly mixture with mostly foreigners and non-indians.Ironically it is not well known with the Indian community therefore you will only see Indian yuppie crowd as the concept its rather fresh. At one time only only less than 50 can occupy the place therefore its really a cool place to chill and just watch time go slow.
The service unbeatable as the chef/owner makes it a point to mingle with the crowd. Good food/Good crowd. Away from the usual Little India's noise. It was even featured in local Japanese expat newspapers for its quality.
Every full moon they have Chat Party where guests are encouraged to particpate in converstaions which can across the room.It is really a place where you can just chill with zen..... :)
Clean/Good Food/Great Service/Value
Make trip you won;t be disappointed... |
