I was at Mad Jack Cafe because the price looked affordable and the menu was relatively attractive. The food left me in great disappointment. I had a Linguine Carbonara ($9.9) which came with mushrooms and ham. The linguine was grossly overcooked - it was soft! This won't do! The carbonara cream sauce was also EXTREMELY watery, though not diluted. My guess is they added lots of salt or MSG into the sauce. I've never eaten such substandard linguine carbonara before. The chicken ham was obviously those from the supermarkets. Overall, extremely disappointing. 

I also had their Mad and Rich Chocolate Cake under the recommendation of the staff there when I asked what's their speciality. True enough, the cake was very rich and worth the money at $4.80. There was fudge, and some ganache in between the 2 layers. The cake helped the cafe regain some plus points but it was not enough to entice me to return. Certainly won't recommend this place!

Aglio was drenched with olive oil and lacking flavor. Fish & chips looked huge but it's mostly just batter. Disappointing

We went there for a really late dinner since we were really hungry but did not feel like eating at the nearby coffee shop. It is a great disappointment that the standard of the food seemed worse than my previous visit. However, I could no longer bother that night because of the hunger.

Highlights of the Meal:

Mushy Mushy - Fried button mushrooms that were surprisingly huge and juicy. The only saving grace of our meal.

Grilled Barramundi with Cajun Seasoning in Cream Sauce - The fish was overcooked and tasteless. The sauce only helped a very little bit. A far cry from the Grilled Fish in Honey Lemon Sauce I had a few months before at the same outlet.
