I agree with another review. Crepe = crap.
The crepe is not tasty, in fact is soggy, i didnt not bring home or what, i tried it on the spot.
The presentation at the counter was so beautiful, but after u buy u wonder why u paid for this crap. I think its not because of the flavor i choose that its not nice, i think the crepe itself is not tasty. Way too overprice for something this bad
I rather go to the nearby ben&jerry or donut factory. |

| Yummy Yummy !! Shibuya style
Mazazu Crepe, I swear I saw a similar Logo in Janpan, Shibuya !
I am greeted with mouth watering crepe displays that look so enticing as I approached. Curious, I ask the staff if it was the same one I saw in Shibuya. And the staff confirmed it is a Japanese Franchise from Japan, and yes it is the same brand as the one in Shibuya called Mother's Crepe.
Excited, I asked which is the most popular item. "Choco banana for sweet and tuna and egg for savory was the answer. Same as in Japan"
I figured I must try the Choco banana as I had the same in Shibuya. They had promotion for GSS and also Set discount for Gelato Shake. So I had a Chocolate shake as well.
First mouth! Wow, just like the one I had in Shibuya. The cream is light and blends very well with the fragrant crepe. The Sweet Banana and Chocolate sauce also makes it a perfect combination. I thoroughly enjoyed my crepe while slurping on my choco shake...
Yum Yum.... Shake has with lotsa chocolate bits and Choco taste is strong and definitely Value for money.
I Must definitely try the tuna and egg and the gelato selections as well next time. |

| Crepe = Crap
Unfortunately, Crap is what this is.
I smelt crepes as the would-be food fad after the donut wave, given its trendy popularity in the Japanese fast food culture. I was quite thrilled to see a new Crepe kiosk at the Tasty Treatz corner of Suntec City.
Besieged with a very exhaustive menu (and those very appealing plastic displays again!) which ranged from the Standard crepes, Deluxe crepes, Premium, Gelato and Delicatessen Crepes, I yielded to that sweet craving again and ordered the Strawberry Caramel Cheesecake Gelato (Phwah) Crepe. I thought I got the best of everything the Japanese are good for: Strawberry imports (say Ichigo), cheesecake (think the melt-in-your mouth Hokkaido cheesecakes) and smooth & creamy Japanese gelato. But what I got was an overkill of a less than tolerable mess of randomly assembled fillings.
First: The crepe wasn’t even competently put together. The service staff was ill-trained, fumbling even when folding the crepe and putting it into that very novel triangular packaging.
Second: The crepe was limp, lifeless and tasteless. One bite I knew it did not meet up to expectations. Too rubbery. The fillings didn’t do justice to it either. The ‘gelato’ didn’t taste ‘Japanese’, the cheesecake was too dry even with the whipped cream, and I swear those strawberries weren’t sweet (I wouldn’t want to think it’s Ichigo aka Japanese kind). There was no hint of caramel anywhere. I was terribly disheartened coz I loved crepes, at least from my memories. And at $6.80? a pop, this spells Expensive for such a shoddy lunch (or lack-of thus).
I mourn the demise of that snug little Crepe place (now what is it called?...) just opposite where old Macdonald’s used to be many many years ago, at the entrance of Wisma and at the end of the link way between Wisma & Orchard MRT (that was when people could still walk effortlessly into Wisma then). The crepes there then were matchless. They were just too exceptional. I could just cuddle up by the booth seat, sink my teeth into my sweet treat and watch the world go by the whole afternoon. No frilly folly absurd combinations like Peach Cinnamon Cheesecake, Banana Brownie Gelato, or Mango Brownie (Hur). Just plain old simple Chocolate Rice with Nutella and heaps of whipped cream. I’ll be happy with just that.Yummy. |

| Flabby Crepes
I had high hopes for Mazazu Crepe when I passed by their kiosk and oogled at the displays, afterall Japanese are finicky discerning eaters and are quite obsessive about their frenchy deserts.
I ordered a simple crepe with a scoop of green tea ice cream. The green tea ice cream was really good, reminded me of Azabu Sabo's green tea ice cream before the quality went downhill.
The crepe, however, was a different story. It was flabby, gummy and bland all at once. I took one bite, a few chews and spat it out as fast as I could. My hubby did the same. Conclusion - eeeyyeew!
Now if only they sold the ice cream separately without the crepe. |
