Wow what a waste of my time
08 Feb 2013Food was horrible. On a saturday night, only like 5 customers present. The abolut penne Vodka was terrible, the bolognese wasnt good too, this 2 simple pastas couldnt even be executed well...what a shame! Baramundi was nothing out of the ordinary. Seafood pasta with a choice of marinara, squid ink or white wine cream sauce was bad. All in all, lousy food

like an Italian restaurant of the 1980s
27 Oct 2012Disappointing meal in many respects - particularly in terms of value for money. One starter, one risotto, two main courses, two desserts and three glasses of house wine for $200? And some of the dishes were mediocre. This is an Italian restaurant that knows very little about Italian food. The fish dishes lacked any subtlety, and it was astonishing to see mushroom risotto served with a mixed salad placed on top! What were they thinking? Also very odd that the risotto was served with the main courses, when it was ordered as a 'primo piatto' to be served before the main course.
Once we had taken the salad off, the risotto was quite nice. Also the fried calamari, our starter. At the end of the meal, the tiramisu was also very good and a big portion.
Most disappointing was the seafood cartoccio, very little flavour in the broth so you were basically just eating steamed fish. Also very disappointing was the flourless cake - which was neither the Nigella Lawson recipe nor the River Cafe recipe, but just seemed to be a slice of chocolate cake, nothing special.
The winelist is huge - like a telephone book. So I wish they were able to offer more Italian wines by the glass - just one sparkling wine (not a good one, but only $12), one white and one red.
At best an average meal, at $100 a head. Why would anyone go back?

Perfect place for a spaghetti lover
16 Oct 2012F&B service is really impressive, and so are the food served. Very attentive waitress/waiter standing around to attend to you promptly with initiative. Caeser Salad with poarched egg was very fresh and tasty. So were the Spaghetti Carbonara with White Wine Sauce and Bacon. The white wine sauce compliments the whole dish alot, and really brought the whole dish to a lip-smacking level. Perfect-o! Tiramisu to end the meal. Fear not if you do not have a sweet tooth, because this dessert is done so nicely, that you don't have to worry about flushing down the sweetness from the desserts with water. Awesome dining experience, will definitely be back for more. read more here: http://livelifelovefood.blogspot.sg/2012/10/michelangelos-innovative-italian-cuisine.html
