| Surprise Surprise
Just stumbled across ML one day while looking for a place to dine. Didn't know it's been around for 80 odd years. 1st impression: nicely done up and a homely feel. Staffs are dress with proper uniform, it's was quiet when I was there. Maybe I'm early and I'm right, as my watch apporached 7.30pm, crowds starts to move in. The whole place became vibrant and noisy.
As I was alone, the young manager recommended me shredded duck noodles. I was surprise when my noodles came, it was enuff for 2! The manager explained that this was the smallest size and lucky I was very hungry. 1st bite: noodles were springy, cooked just nice. The scauce hit me with a tangy and sour taste but not enuff to spoil your appetite, it was refreshing.
I was told by the manager that their Majestic Roast Chicken is ML's signature dish and true enuff partically every table has one if not half of the chicken. Too bad I was too full to try the chicken but I'll definitely come back with my family to try more their dishes.
Stay tune. |

| Best Roast Chicken!
Always love going Moi Lum, their Majestic Roast Chicken had remain unchanged over the years! I've started goin to Moi Lum since I was a kid. During the 70s, my Dad always bring the whole family on every Sat for dinner and damn it was packed till the street! Moi Lum used to be at along Tanjong Pagar Road where the pubs are now but have since moved from Geyland to Murray to the present site, AirView Building.
Ambience is so much different from the old shop at Murray but it still gives you this homely feel. Their staffs are wearing proper uniform and the young chap working there always try to provide a good service, sometimes I just feel he talks a bit too much, but still it's good effort.
When it comes to their roast chicken, it's the best I've every eaten! Every single friends I've brought them to Moi Lum gave their thumbs up. Another must try would be their Golden Coin Beancurd, rich and soft. Every bit is moist and I was told by the young chap that the beancurd is made by squashing two different types of tofu, reshaped and fried.
Moi Lum is the place for good O' fashion no frills cantonese cuisine. |

| Still going strong
Moi Lum's famous for their roast chicken and it is still going strong after 80 odd years! It is a must try everytime I visit the place and I also strongly recommend the Golden Coin Beancurd, soft, rich in interest and heavily soaked with scauce. For beef lovers, their beef stew claypot is also another must try! Everything in the claypot is done almost to perfection.
Ambience is a still homely and the reason why I like to dine here is because it's a no frills place. Although the owner try to provide a good service but due to the crowds, you can't really ask for more. For those who wants service, try other places.
With price hikes everywhere, Moi Lum's still an affordable place to good to for a good old cantonese style meal. |

| FOOD SUCKS....
Well, my dad suggest going to MOI LUM resturant after watching the AH GONG AND AH MA PROGRAMME on channel 8... We expect the food should be wonderful but it is awful. Tis is the dishes we ordered:
(1) Golden Coin Chicken: the dish should be hot but it turned out
to be cold seem like we are eating cold
dish.
(2) Majestic Roast Chicken: Just average, can get better taste
elsewhere.
(3) Oyster Duck Roll: Just average, and it too turn out to be cold.(
just wondering whether we ordered all cold dish)
(4)Yam Pot: Not good, can get better at Spring Court Restaurant.
(5)Steamed Fish Head with Bean Sauce: The fish do not have the
sweetness and we can only taste
SALTY BEAN SAUCE.
(6)Crispy Noodle:We ordered crispy noodle but the noodle turned out
to be burned, we required to change and the owner
told us that it is pan fried so it should be
burned... Do anybody like to eat BURN NOODLE?
I tink the owner do have attitude problem... there is always a saying... CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. I will never go back . |

CNY Lunch for the sweatshop peasants...….
19 Feb 2008 : The whole sweatshop (29 ever-ready-to-eat peasants) came to Moi Lum to have our CNY celebrations. We booked 3 tables in advance and placed a deposit of $300.
The sweatshop boss ordered this set meal for all of us :

The bill came up to $959.90.
SLIDE SHOW
I tried every dish except the Braised Abalone in Oyster Sauce because im allergic to that kind of stuff. The highlight of my meal was the Majestic Roast Chicken. The skin was very crispy and the meat was very soft and tender. The other dishes i tried were also tasty.
It was most unfortunate that the food was not enough for the ever-ready-to-eat gang of peasants. =o( I guess... we just have very big appetites. Perhaps we were just hungry-for-more Moi Lum food!~ KL volunteered to pop over to Lim Kee Orchard Banana Fritters to buy goreng pisang, bean paste and tapioca snacks for the sweatshop peasants.
