  1. Nice location

    Aug 15, 2007
I was passing by to Japan Embassy and decided to stop at this place for lunch. On a weekday at around 1.30pm, the place is quiet with few people.

I had a cheese mushroom prata and a italian "prata pizza". The chesse mushroom prata is quite nice. But I feel the taste is about the same elsewhere. The special thing is their curry. I feel it taste nice and not too spicy. As for the "prata pizza", I dun really like. Maybe it is mutton, it smells a bit in my mouth. But if u dip with curry, it is ok.

Service wise is ok. The staff quickly come over with a menu and clear the table when I sit down. They waited patiently for my order though I still not decided. When I ask for recommendation, he quickly gave a clear answer which I like.

    • Life is unfair!!!

      Dedicated to the 3 Amigos

So my big boss stays in Cluny Road...big bungalow and all that...pool...and one night he says (with strong foreign accent) "Let's have prata"

      huh?!

"Just round the corner, i'll get the driver"

This is something new to me...but indeed, we were driven to a very quite location where a mamak stall stood...apparently it's been around for ages.

I'm a big fan of places that opens 24/7 as it's not easy to run operations like that...so first we had

      our own Singapore made -

Ice Milo Dinosaur, Ice Milo Godzilla and Teh Cino

      murtabak...nice with fish curry

French prata...prata spread with nutella, rainbow sprinkles and topped with ice cream.

certainly this place has alot of varieties and i could see many "owls" alike hanging around...

    • Cheap & Good Pratas (& more!) ANYTIME

      Aug 2, 2007
Noticed this place when I was dining at The Wine Company @Evans

So one night (or rather early morn) after the movies, a bunch of us decided to check out this place.

The place has limited parking spaces (read no free parking unless u consider illegal parking along the road...)

It has open space makan-ing and indoor. We chose indoor to avoid the smoking

The menu kinda wowed us...lots of different kinds of pratas and a variety of food.

We ordered chicken murtabak (YUM) and Italian prata (creative but weird coz we kinda prefer it on a pizza crust)

My teh halia was one of the best i tasted (later i saw a dude that works there cutting up a lot of ginger for cooking/making drinks...fresh & powerful sia)

Price is definitely reasonable and ambience is one of the best (for a cheap prata place!)

PLUS it's not so crowded (well it WAS 3am) but it has been known to be packed ard 11pm to 1am so u've been forewarned!

      1. Sunday Chillout

        Oct 18, 2009
All sorts of prata, all sort of Indian food, 24/7! Wide range of variety with affordable pricing. Outdoor sitting can be quite dark but cosy. Easy parking because it's never over crowded. Bikers should love this place. Teh tarik with prata goes so well together.Sunday chillout never been better.

        • Most Disappointing

          Aug 8, 2009
On the way to Botanic Gardens, we passed by 'Mr Prata' and thought, This would be a really great place for dinner after a light walk (put the pounds back on). We passed by 'Mr Prata' before and prior to this, had a good impression because of its seemingly long car queues outside and good location.

Parking was pretty easy because of the carpark serving the adjacent building. The place was a bit more run down then we thought given its prime location. It was a little on the dark side. Ready-made roti prata and Indian rojak were left in the open so we were initially a bit apprehensive, being reminded of the food poisoning incident a few months back. We ignored the fact and sat down to choose our food, ordering:

          1) 2 sets of plain Roti Prata
          2) 1 Butter Prata
          3) 1 Chicken Nasi Briyani
          4) Indian Rojak
          5) Mee Goreng

The plain prata was OK, but is definitely not one of the best in Singapore. It is very average and nothing to shout about, and certainly, many standards away from the ones at Jalan Kayu and Suntec City.

The butter prata was, perhaps, the best food on our menu, but it was not enough to salvage our meal.

For the Chicken Nasi Briyani, the rice tasted like chicken and the chicken tasted like rice. The rice was soggy and the chicken was way overcooked so it was so tender, you couldn't differentiate it from the rice. One of member of our group said it was OK, so you may like this after all.

Indian Rojak was average. Nothing spectacular and there are definitely better ones in food courts.

The Mee Goreng was the worst dish we ordered. The noodles were hard and there was a wierd taste to it. We informed the waiter (very nicely) about the noodles. He gave a 'what are you talking about?' look and walked away without any comment. He thought he might perhaps inform the kitchen about it but apparently nothing happened. Our feedback was ignored. No offense to the cook, but really, worst Mee Goreng we've ever tasted.

In conclusion, bad food, bad service, what can we say? We did have high expectations, though.

          • nice prata but not the curry

            Nov 14, 2007
there were quite a wide variaties of prata's, murtabak to choose from. i tried the butter prata and egg/onion prata. the prata was not bad but the curry was a bit disappointing for me. it would also be very nice if it comes with samba chilli...

as for the ambience, we were sitted outdoor. we were there in the afternoon and the trees provided adequate shelter from the sun.
