Marvelous creations :)
Sep 24, 2009Tucked at an inconspicuous corner of the Central Market, you could almost walk past miss this place entirely.
But I'm glad I didn't! Two thumbs up for muffins packed with wholesome goodness and yumminess :) I went for the breakfast set, comprising 3 muffins and hot tea/coffee/iced peach tea. Was pleasantly surprised when I was presented a spread of Twinings teas to choose from. Lovely. Brownie points from a tea fannatic :) I'd say this was really value-for-money at $4.50 (muffins U.P $1.50 ea). Topped off with generous amounts of, uh, toppings!
Okay now to my point for. I chose apple&cranberry, banana walnut and pumpkin&carrot. And consumed them in that order. The muffin base tasted different from the usual, perhaps the wholemeal at work. I especially loved the apple&cranberry, very natural sweetness amidst the backdrop of crunchy pumpkin seedlets. Banana walnut, the supposed topseller, paled in comparison. Could do with a lot more flavour. Pumpkin&carrot was a novelty.
I'd be back soon to try their chocolatey numbers!Must Tries

Wow.... nice place.
Aug 1, 2009Was just walking around Central, to see what we could have for desert. Somewhere that we could sit down and just relax and enjoy your cakes and drinks. Luckily, we ventured to the basement, as most of the shops from Level 1 to Level 4 are franchises and quite expensive.
What attracted us to the shop was their Muffins on display. My friend being a big peanut butter fan, saw the Oreo Cookies Muffins with Peanut Butter. We asked if we could sit down & eat, as the chairs and tables were packed up. The owner happily said "do come in" and started arranging the chairs and table.
We went to the end, where we could sit on the red sofas with the coffee tables, magazines places on top. So my gf was more than happy to come in.
Our initial order was 2 muffins, the peanut one ($1.5) and the nutella + macadamia nut ($1.8). Both were very good and very generous with the macadamia i would say. 2 drinks, a cafe latte ($3.8) and Twining's Strawberry & Mango Tea ($2.2). The coffee was strong and the tea was fragrant, served with a twining's Tea set, very Victorian. And a single scoop of ice-cream ($3.2), a nostalgic flavour 'rainbow', which taste like the toothpaste i used when i was younger. However the ice-cream, was from the New Zealand Ice-cream brand.
My gf was so happy with the 1 cup of tea, that she ordered another cup, another flavour, Peaches & Passionfruit. Also served with the tea set. Leave it to soak for awhile, to get the full flavour and richness of the tea. We also ordered another muffin, the Chocolate Sensation, which didn't disappoint.
From what i noticed, most people passby and buy a muffin to take away, rather than come in to sit down. Maybe because it was close to closing time. When it came to the bill, they do not charge for GST and no 10% service charge. A place well worth taking some time to visit, especially for a lunch. As they have a lunch time set meal, i don't mind trying on my next visit.Must Tries
