| Terrible Service
I was there entertaining some overseas guests. I soon realized that it was a mistake to have brought them to this restaurant.
Initial Greeting:
From the minute we entered the door, we were greeted with frowns all around, not even a shimmer of a smile. We were rushed and seated as if we just joined the army and it was chow time.
Ordering:
This part went ok. However, take note that the waitress serving us was rather impatient, and still missing that smile which one would expect of somebody in the service industry. We ordered a mere 5 dishes.
Food:
The food did not come at the same time. One dish came, then they remembered to serve the rice, then another two dishes came, and it is at this point that things really took a nosedive south. After the 3rd dish, we had to wait 25 minutes before the other 2 dishes came. That was even after reminding the waitress, every 5 minutes or so, about our order. Do you think this is a cause to be upset? Well, let’s just put it this way: You start eating and then you have to stop eating for a whole 25 minutes because there are no more dishes left on the table, and the seven people seating round the table start staring at each other blankly while their rice get cold. The minutes tick away and you keep giving the waitress constant reminders but to no avail. Your patience starts to grow thin—very thin. You ask for the manager, but he doesn’t show even after repeated requests. The waitresses start to panic as they see their customers start getting agitated. Only then, the food comes. But no one has any appetite left to eat. The rice is cold.
Payment
I went up to the cashier to pay and give the manager an earful. It turned out to be a waste of my breath. The manager was (and still is) incompetent at easing disgruntled customers. He kept making excuses after excuses without a shred of remorse for ruining the evening for seven of his customers. There was no sincerity in his tone of voice. If I could, I would have given him the Singapore Tourism Award then and there—the award for the worst service personnel in Singapore.
Wary travellers stay away.
PS: I have rated their service as 0.1 only because I cannot give a zero. |

| Shocking price for crabs in no signboard esplanade.
It's been years since i last visited No Signboard restaurant in Geylang which left me with good crabs taste and reasonable price.
But i totally changed my view and comment when i visited No Signboard in esplanade lately with 2 of my guests from a foreign land.
The aunty who took our order for crabs insist us to try the australia crab in white pepper style. Follow by another australia crab in chilli sauce.
I comment that i think local crabs will do, she continue to persuade us to the smallest australia crabs they had, and comment the local crabs are not so good that day.
We finally agreed to try 2 australia crabs, 3 pieces of crayfish and 1 sambal kang kong with 3 glasses of coke.
As a local grown resident, i agreed the australia white pepper crab is tasty but definitely over-price, the chilli crab taste terrible even my guests stopped after 1 pc.
The final part is the shocking bill total to $770 for 3 person meal.
Honestly, for that price, we rather opt for a good japanese restaurant with fresh seafood flow in from japan. |

| I've not been there for ages
Since the first time I visit there in year 2005, I've never been there again, not because of the food, is the location not quite convenient to where I stay. Not much recommendations I could give as the food I ordered is not much. But here's some photos can upload for you all. |

| I rather go to other no signboard
My hub and I had a strong craving for crabs one day and we happen to be at esplanade. We saw no sign board and was sooo excited. We called a few friends hoping that we can get another couple to have dinner so that we can order more food. Oh well, we couldn't get anyone. Maybe its luck that we couldn't get anyone... the reason - you will read it soon.
We jumped into the restaurant happily and decided to order 3 dishes. We had a vegetable, squid and CRAB! I must say that the food is still just as good as any other outlet. Yummy! BUT - the portions are extremely small! It is pure luck that the other couples weren't able to make it. If not, we will have to order a lot more and the meal will be really expensive.
The only time that I will visit this place again is if it is for a business dinner and the other party would like to eat Chinese seafood.
As for me coming with friends or my hub, the answer is definitely not! The portions are too small for the price that we pay. |

| not as good anymore...
No Sign Board at Esplanade used to be THE seafood place we would go to whenever we have colleagues from overseas as our office is nearby. It was great when they first opened their branch in Esplanade, keeping up with the standards of the main outlet.
Was there just a few days ago, and the portions seem to have significantly reduced. We ordered about 7 dishes (including 3 crabs) for 7 people, and we had to order more dishes again because the food wasn't enough (no, we didn't have that big an appetite).
The white-pepper crab is still quite nice, but the sauce of the chilli crab seems rather "glue-y". The quality of the food isn't quite consistent as well. We ordered Morning Glory (a.k.a. kang kong) twice, and the 1st round was nice and the spice level was just right. The 2nd round was somewhat less tasty, and tasted liked it was cooked in a rush.
Perhaps it was because the crowd was growing, and people waiting for tables. Business is still good, although I did notice that there were more expats than locals. Is that a sign of things? I think we will stick to Palm Beach at Fullerton as the better option for awhile... |
