Must try - smooth white coffee
Aug 12, 2009Well for a "kopitiam", the coffee costs $2 per cup. Imagine that. But on trying, I think it is a very robust coffee yet well balanced with the milk. There is also no sour aftertaste that irks most coffee drinkers like me. Altho' I asked for "siu dai" or less sugar, the bitterness of the coffee did not come thru unlike some other places I've tried. Probably, the one that's closest in comparison, I would say, is the Golden Shoe car park Ah Pek's stall on the 2nd storey....but heh heh, Ah Pek's price only the lower end of $1+ per cup plus a scolding for remarking that he increased his price. ;-)
The french toast - I wish I can choose to just have plain french toast ie without the peanut butter. Abit overwhelmed in taste by the p.b.
Half boiled eggs - very orange yolks but no wonder, it says Omega+ whatever.. eggs. Attractive.
Prawn noodles - forgot it unless you're really hungry. Soup stock so so. At $5 or $6 per bowl, one can get better versions elsewhere.
Service - inconsistent. If you attract the attention of the right person, you get nice pleasant service; get the wrong one, heh heh.. try shouting and waving madly. Found one that was like in her own world on National Day morning. Also, can't understand why the eggs did not appear after the prawn noodles, the coffee, the honey drink and the french toast were served. Thot that should be the easiest to serve other than the honey drink.Must Tries

3 of us ordered a black tea. a hot honey lemon. and a cold honey lemon. along with my curry chicken rice. =)
service was normal. decor was like the old coffee shops i used to see in history texts.
drinks were either too bland or too strong. but the curry chicken was really good. thick and fragrant gravy. and the rice went well with the curry.

crisp brown butter toast
May 25, 2009It's nice to know that there is an outlet of Old Town White Coffee in Jurong Point.
Was first introduced to this joint while in Johor Bahru's Jusco. Have since been addicted to the brown bread toasted till crisp.
The service staff in Jurong Point are not that friendly. My vegetarian ordered a bowl of noodles and politely requested that the meat components be left out. The wait staff impolitely rebutted her that there is no reduction in prices even if the meat is removed. This statement got my friend a little upset and told the staff, its not about the cost. The bowl of noodles was later served with the meat in it. We did not want to argue and just removed the meat on our own.
This joint has a "CASH only" payment. Having a NETS facility would probably improve convenience.
Personally, I like the french toast with peanut butter. Never fail to order it when I'm there. Matched with the xi mut milk tea. You need to be used to the xi mut... some people I know don't like it.
Overall a nice dining location. The store opens @ 10am. Queues start forming as early as 10.30am.Must Tries

supper
May 26, 2009had been here before but delayed writing a review... I remember it was at night & it was not very full, only around 3 quarter full. We ordered a cup of kopi-o 4 my Dad, a bowl of something curry or laska, I can't remember which, & coffee to share. the curry/laska smells heavenly but the taste was only so-so. I've a short term memory so I can't exactly remember which food we had, especially if the food is forgettable, which is the case for everything here.
Frankly I'm not too sure I will go back. Besides, Jurong Point has so many F & B outlets I can choose from.I also recommend this place for

Worth a try...
May 9, 2009These days "OldTown White Coffee" is not a "foreign" name in Singapore anymore. If you're looking for a place where you could reminisce the "old days" kopithiam.
I believe most of us have dined there quite a number of times...
I have been there 4 times myself, and am crazy over their Nasi Rendang Chicken which is at S$7.90. It comes with a piece of chicken with the thick Rendang gravy over the chicken, crackers, sambal chilli and slices of cucumber. The look of it will make you drool and the after taste will still lingers in your mind...
Another must try dish will be their Nasi Lemak Special... It comes with a piece of fried chicken, ikan bilis/peanuts, sambal chilli, crackers and slices of cucumber. It's at S$5.50.
Other orders include Black Currant Smoothie @ S$4.50 & W/Coffee Ice Blend Org @ S$4.50.
Previously, we have tried their "buo luo" bun and the toast too... and it's not bad either.
If you're looking for a place to hang out and chit chats on weekends or after work with your family or friends, OldTown White Coffee is place to consider.
I personally like to dine there and will return again. However, I think the price of the food is a little steep, perhaps if they could consider to do some adjustments, that will be perfect! :DMust Tries
