Very Disappointing!!!!!!!!
25 May 2012I was very disappointed in The Oyster Bar! My friends and I stopped in to end our evening. Unfortunately the wait staff which greeted us we found to be quite pretentious. I cannot give a good review of this establishment, we were so offended by our treatment that we left after being seated. If you enjoy pretentious, upper crust snobbery then this is the place for you! They will not be receiving my patronage ever, nor will I suggest it to my friends!

Great dips and salads....can't say the same for the meat though!
16 May 2012Urban Bites is one of the very few places where you can get good Middle eastern food in Singapore. Simpe fact.
The head chef and founder Ghazi (from Lebanon) leads his staff is making some excellent food. Expect sour and savoury flavours. The food here is anything but bland.
The salads and dips are the best, however I sadly wouldn't recommend the meat. As someone who's grown up eating this food, the small portions and cooking is disappointing.
Still, great place for the vegetarian dishes. Well worth a visit, especially for lunch.

a VERY bitter oyster
17 Jan 2012Always when I go to a place that I don't like I try to be fair waiting a bit to re-analyze the experience and then write - cause in restaurants everyday is a totally different day and we cannot count on others experiences - sadly with Oyster Bar there is no way to change my mind about the awful experience.
Setting is a bit weird, not very comfy to have a meal and more set to have some drinks, snacks and duck out, the only thing that saves it is the view to MBS but that you can have in other places along the marina.
Food is just OK, I read in their website that they use only the very best but using the very best doesn´t mean they have to more than overprice things, a pair of oysters is around $20++ and seafood pasta is $70++... taking into account the way they display the oysters and the people that was there that evening -not many- I could say the product could be the best but not the freshest, so is something to take into account specially with oysters.
Regarding to drinks we ask for a bottle of champagne that again seemed overpriced, we don´t mind to pay quality and since we were there we decided to enjoy the moment, but after we finished our dinner there we went to another place near by and the same bottle (vintage, brand, etc) was $100 less...
Service, the staff is nice and you can see they try their very best to please customers, the bartender is the real bar guy that talks with everybody and really has charm! Sadly again there is a caucasian guy -don't know if manager, owner or what, really after I saw his behavior don´t want to know- that really made our experience very bitter since we could heard him yelling to the guys in the open kitchen, this in any place or circumstance is just unacceptable and if they decide to deal with problems by yelling a customer should not be part of this kind of scenes EVER!
It is a shame that so many ingredients fail in the Oyster Bar formula, now I know why most of the times I pass by is just empty.
Definitely I will not go back!
