| Knockout Pizza Crust
We started off with an Arugula Salad and Beef Carpaccio. Both starters were very good. My Arugula with a few sweet cherry tomatoes thrown in was very lightly tossed in extra-virgin olive oil, sea salt and some cracked pepper topped with shaved Parmesan. Very simple, just the way I like it as all the flavours are distinctive. You get a wonderful freshly toasted bread basket too with the usual olive oil & balsamic vinegar dip. Warning: if you do not like bitter greens, don't try arugula, it's an acquired taste.
As we were on a light diet, we decided to skip the pasta and share an all-time favourite, their Quattro Formaggi Pizza. This is a splendid mix of Gorgonzola, Taleggio, Scamorza and Mozzarella on a super-thin crust that is still crispy to the last bite. We were over the moon. A knock-out not found in any other pizzerias.
We passed on the dessert (retribution from indulging in WGS).
Service though not fine or elegant, is superb. They will spoil you and have you wishing that all other restaurants should be like them.
So go ahead, give it a try. I am certain you will not regret. |

| Why we gave up on Papi
My boyfriend and I first discovered Papi when it first opened. We were absolutely delighted. What was there not to like about the place? The bread basket was wonderful - all sorts of different types of bread and really tasty. The pasta was nicely al-dente and even the margarita pizza was delicious. The water they gave you came from a jug where they had added orange slices, cinnamon, some herbs etc. Service was attentive, if a little raw. It was nice when the chef came out to talk to us.
We went around raving about the restaurant.
On our final visit back about 3 months ago, we discovered that things had changed. Is it because the original chef had left? We were not sure. But basically the bread basket now contained this uniform awful chewy bread. The pasta and pizzas have dropped in standard. There are definitely better italian places out there with the same prices. |

| Decent italian food.
Chef and part owner is Salvatore. He used to run the restaurant at Namly place. Food is not bad and competent. We had some mussels and pastas. A little on the salty side but overall good stuff.
Service is good too. But it could be cuz we know the chef. Has valet parking. |
