The moment we got inside Pasta J Asian, they told us that the waiting time for food is 20-30 minutes. We weren't particularly hungry and we were alright with waiting, so we settled in.
My friends ordered a steak (I forgot the name of the dish, and it's not on the website), Bollywood Pumpkin soup, and Stout Stew. I had a Power Chowder and a Caramel Carnivore.
I loved Power Chowder. The flavors are striking, amazing, and rich. There were clams in shells and I was given a saucer to put the shells into.
I was able to take a bite of the steak, which my friend ordered medium well, but the chef insisted it should be served "as close to medium" as possible. So it's somewhere between medium rare and medium, I suppose. I thought it was very well spiced and done pretty well.
I also got to taste the Stout Stew, which was my runner-up choice for my order. Very flavorful stewed beef on pasta, tender and it's plain it's dishes like this where they shine.
Unfortunately, my Caramel Carnivore took a long time. My friends had almost finished their food when they came to check how our food where, and I mentioned I was still waiting for mine. A few minutes later, they came back and asked what I had ordered. It did not occur right then to me to attempt to cancel the order, but after a while I took a look at the timestamps of the photos I'd taken and realized I'd been waiting almost an hour since ordering and it's clear they forgot about my dish.
I called them over to try and cancel the dish, but they insisted it was in the queue, "that's why we say it will be 30 minutes", etc. They seem to be quite nice people, and I really did like the Power Chowder, that I decided to not make a fuss and insist on cancelling a forgotten order.
We ordered slightly before 8:20 PM. I got my Power Chowder at 8:30. My friends got the steak at 8:58, and the stew at 9:04. I got my pasta at 9:23.
Caramel Carnivore was good: caramelized onions and pork mealballs in pork broth-based sauce, served with some cream you can add to your liking. Unfortunately, by that time I was full from my soup and eating off my friends' plates, a little annoyed at the wait, and a little stressed at having to make my friends wait for me to finish...that I didn't enjoy the dish as much as I might have if it arrived on time.
