| My new favourite pizza joint
After an alcohol-filled night there is nothing better for a hangover than a good pizza. A bunch of us trooped down to Peproni Pizzeria and ordered the ultimate hangover cure - their pancetta - tomato sauce, mozzarella, pancetta ham, diced tomato and a soft egg right smack in the middle.
The result is a satisfying hearty wood-fired Italian pizza ($21 for the large 12" pizza) - a tad salty because of the pancetta ham, but a bite of it and you're in pizza heaven. Goes great with their homemade iced lemon tea. |

| As big as my TV
By that I am referring to the size of the 21" family-size gigantic-huge-arse-out-of-this-world-thin-crust pizza goodness that the people at Peperoni Pizzeria are serving. Or maybe I am just mocking the size of my TV.
Well knowing that they have a 21" pizza in their arsenal, we had to order it. Two in fact, and since any order of large/family size pizza will earn you the right of having 2 flavours on it, the 6 of us had the joy of tasting 4 flavours each.
Hawaiian, Suprema, Fruti-something & another-one-i-forgot (sorry for my fading memory) were the flavours on our pizzas. Generally speaking, it's wonderful. I found the Fruti-something flavour slightly too salty for my liking though.
The thin crusts made the pizza extra crispy and 'less filling' than the usual PizzaHut-type. Don't get me wrong here, thin is good when it comes to pizza, drawing more focus on its topping than the crust. Maybe we ordered too much pizza for 6, 'cause at the end of the day, we were damn bloated.
The waitresses/waiters are a friendly bunch of people, always ready to offer their advice on the toppings and recommending what other dishes to try. And while waiting for your orders to be served, customers will get to show off their artistic talent by doodling on the paper table cloth with the non-toxic crayons (I sure hope they are non-toxic).
And finally, the prices shown on their menu includes GST/Svc chrg... easier to split the bill. |

| wittekerke rose beer and americano pasta is good
I went there for lunch with some family friends. The serving staffs were very nice and accomodating to the kids that we had with us.
Up till today, i really liked the americano pasta , the pasta felt homemade and the sauce was really good.MUST TRY!
Also, the pizza was thin crusted but its best eaten there as we orderd takeaway once, but it wasnt as good.
They have a wide selectoin of beers and i really liked the Wittekerke Rose beer. Ladies, do try this beer! |

| Humongous pizza
Was in the mood for some thin crust pizza so the glutton in me opted for Peperoni Pizzeria, which is owned and operated by fine dining chain Les Amis and boasts a never seen elsewhere in Singapore XXXL family size pizza, measuring 21 inches in diameter. Compare that with the 12-14 inches that is offered by other pizza joints and Peperoni easily takes the cake in terms of size.
Located in the upmarket and reclusive residential enclave of Greenwood Ave, Peperoni Pizzeria sits along a row of tiny shophouses that play host to various renowned F&B establishments such as Punggol Seafood, Lana, Greenwood Fish Market, just to name a few. The air conditioned area exudes a nice warmth through the use of pastel colours and various artworks by professional artists and school children alike. You can even follow the process of your pizza being made and then baked in the oven. There is also a small al fresco area behind which is reminiscent of a mini courtyard, complete with vines. If you need a pass time while waiting for your food or an aspiring artist, just ask for crayons and you can doodle on the paper tablecloths.
XXXL Pizza - If you order the large pizza (12 inches) and above, you can request to split your pizza into 2 totally different flavours, which allows for more variety. We had the Hawaii (tomato sauce, mozzarella, pineapple, cooked ham, bell peppers) and the Suprema (tomato sauce, mozzarella, shitake mushroom, chicken, sausage, onions and red chilli). The pizza crust was relatively thin but a tad too burnt along the edges. The base did seem a little too soggy from all the sauces as well. Ingredients didn't come across as plentiful but adequate nevertheless. Personally I thought that the Hawaii portion tasted better as it came across as more flavourful then that of the Suprema.
Creme Brulee - Ending our high carbohydrate meal on a sweet note was the creme brulee, which was quite good but certainly not the best I've had. Made from real vanilla beans, the pudding wasn't too sweet but the overly soft texture didn't exactly sit well with me. The sugar layer was thin and broke easily under pressure. Peperoni's rendition is comparable to the one at FRE(N)SH, just 1.5 times the size and double the price.
A lunch of gigantic proportions set the 2 of us back by about $55, which is still reasonable considering that the amount of food could have fed at least 3 people. In case you are wondering, no, we didn't finish the food. I surrendered at the halfway mark while my gf ate a quarter of it. The remaining quarter was doggy bagged. Service was slow and spotty and it was quite difficult to catch the wait staff's attention at times. They weren't rude or anything, probably just inattentive or not around.

| Yummy Pizza!
I was first there on a very crowded evening a few years back and I was drawn to its vibrant atmosphere, corny jokes in the toilet and paper table cloths where you can let your creativity run wild with crayons.
I was there again recently and though it was quiet this time round, I left feeling pleased with the experience once again.
The family pizza was ENORMOUS and yummy. For $40+ NETT, it is really a steal!
Pizzas could have sufficed but we tried a pasta each and for $20 each, it wasn't that fantastic. I found my lasagne too tomato-ish. Also, I really hated the fungi(mushrooms). It made me disgusted for a whole day. I didn't like the parmesan cheese either.
But well, I still loved everything else. And the service was excellent. Nice smiley faces all around, and you can guess, they were not Singaporeans.
I think it's a great place for pizzas and I'll definitely be back! |
