Worth dining with PALATE

Me & my husband went over to PG last night... This was our first time to PG since they were having the PALATE programme for AMEX card holders.... Good value for money as we are entitled 50% disc only on our main course...We tried their aglio olio pancetta & their misto carne pizza which overall is not that bad after all.. Our bill came up around $30++, of course without drinks, we only had ice water.. The place is beautiful, great ambience, wait staff are polite & cheerful...but my advice to those who wants to enjoy dining there, u need to go early coz they usually gets busy after 7pm....gosh & it's only Monday....

Great food, with even better service..

You can get almost anything you want on your pizza! And you have to wait less then 5 mins for your food to be served. And the staff's are friendly, efficient and always smiling. Even with a full hse they try their best to give every guest their best service. Definitely my favourite pizza place ever! And definitely coming back with my friends and family! =D

Only suitable for really cool nights and smokers

For a more detailed review with pictures, please check out http://thehungrybunnie.blogspot.com/2012/02/pizzeria-giardino-chijmes.html

Pizzeria Giardino's open-air location at the green lawn of the historic Chijmes, while picturesque, makes this quite the attraction to flies, we were swatting flies away throughout our dinner. If you're one of those people that require the comfort of air-conditioned surroundings, this is definitely not the place for you. Despite the prevalence of fans and a slight breeze, we found ourselves rushing through our food so we could escape from the heat and humidity. But, if you're a smoker, this is quite a dining paradise. Many of the tables were set aside for smokers.

We got

1) Prosciutto e Melone ($17) terrific-I don't usually eat melons, but this were brilliantly sweet and juicy, a perfect complement to the ham.

2) Insalata di Rucola ($13), rucola leaves interspersed with shaved parmesan and cherry tomatoes, and dressed lightly with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I was quite surprised that the portion was so huge.

3) Gamberi e Finghi ($23) crunchy, marinated prawns and shitake mushrooms. This was well done and perfectly portioned for one person

4) Mushroom Ravioli ($21) too cloying. I was unable to eat more than 5 raviolis in this dish. Strictly for cream lovers, this one

Pleasant outdoor dining, but a bit expensive

I've been several times in the past but not for some time, so paid Pizzeria Giardino a re-visit last week. Set outdoors in Chijmes it's a fantastic setting to enjoy al fresco pizzas with friends, overlooking the beautiful surounds including the chapel which looks stunning lit up against the night sky.

For the food we ordered a range of starters like calamari, caprese, rocket salad and focaccia. All the dishes were okay but nothing fantastic.

For the mains we shared 3 pizzas: capriciosa, verdura and siciliana. The staff accommodated my allergy requests including serving sauces/cheese on the side, and making the pizza's one half with and the other half without cheese.... High Maintenance! The pizzas were good quality in line with the price bracket, and better than the starters.

Overall: Pizzeria Giardino seems to get a negative wrap here but I think it's quite okay and would recommend it for pleasant Italian outdoor dining. The food could be a bit better and prices slightly on the high side, but the ambience and setting can make it worthwhile.
