Bread Shopping @ Provence!
Widely known as one of the most popular bakeries in Singapore, Provence carries a French like name but in actual fact is a Japanese bakery & cafe residing in Holland Village. It's really easy to point out Provence when you're in the area, they have this huge over-sized croissant sticking out of their signboard ;)
Upon entering I saw a table displaying all kinds of bread in the middle of the spacious shop, and along the walls are rows of pigeon hole shelves with one type of bread in each compartment. On the other side of the shop are some tables and chairs for dine in customers, and they provide Al fresco seats outside the shop too.
This was not my first visit to Provence, and I loaded up with a pile of carbo like I always did. Results of my bread shopping trip are:
Chocolate Wassant (Nice!)
Melon Bun (So-so, bought it bcos it looked so cute!)
Sesame Cream Cheese (Fresh from the oven, but still so-so)
Walnut Flower (Not bad, but too little walnuts)
Brown Rice Anpan (It's heavenly~)
Detailed review is too long to be posted here, feel free to visit my blog and see more pictures of me tearing the bread apart to take photos ;p

Great Brekkie!!

Walked pass Provence a few times and finally got the time to sit in for breakfast today. Provence is a "fresh" Jap/French Style of bakery with both indoor and outdoor sittings. Capacity is rather small, so expect to wait if you decide to eat-in during "peak" hours. Staffs are friendly, cheerful and helpful with requests.
We ordered a spread enough to feed 2 and was pleasantly surprised at how cheap it was. The Bacon and Egg sandwich breakfast set ($5) came with a choice of coffee or tea, and some fresh salad. Their Raisin Scone and Butter-based Croissant was very appealing at $1.10 a piece. Most importantly, the feed went down well.
Well, Provence is a really nice place to grab a quick and/or light lunch, and I will definitely be visiting its bakery more regularly.

I love foodgasmic surprises!!!
Was in the vicinity after an appointment and decided to get the usual sandwiches (S$2.70) and my sweet custard bun for lunch in the office from Provence.
As I was looking around for my custard bun, I saw her for the 1st time, all dress up in white lacy soft lingerie (errmm...I meant cream). She look so innocent and tempting, and all resistance broke down as she said ' hi honey, I'm all dress up for you, consume me (in her sweet voice)'.
This whipped cream bun (S$1.90) was about palm size, it looks crisp and hard but it was soooooo surprisingly soft and FILLED with light whipped cream that is sweet and simply orgasmic (ermm...i meant foodgasmic) on first bite, as I stripped away the lingerie (erm...cream) I discovered there is a dark side to her, under the cream was sweet red bean paste! OH!!! another orgasmic (ermm...foodgasmic) surprise!!! This sweet yummy bun is highly recommended for all sweet tooths.
After that , I had to calm my excitement with the normal cold prepacked egg, ham and bacon sandwich.
Overall, a fantastic meal. Got to go get that whipped cream bun again soon!!!! She has lots of friends all dress to satisfy your food urges.
Photos to be uploaded tonight , but it won't do her justice, as she looked so plain and innocent. hahahaha....

yum yum yum!
note: this review may be biased as i am definitely a bread lover of all time! :D
this bakery is simply the best! i am actually willing to travel to holland v just for provence and the bread there of course. my fave remains to be the brown rice anpan. yah, i know not exactly what they are famous for. but i think though its just red bean, they can do it really well, not too sweet nor watery (seriously, some bakery have "watery" anpan). and they're very generous with the fillings. another must have is the milk pan! but its best when its just out from the oven. coz i recently tried a cold milk pan, not a gd impression. but still above average!
i also like the orange moon thing, its a flat bread, with orange custard on top, with some almond flakes. nice change of texture, coz its a bit hard and crusty. try the chocolate danish as well! can feel the chocolate melt in your mouth :D but a bit sinful though.
anyway, i 'm not too impressed with the wassants, though thats what everyone goes to provence for! hahahah, anyway other bakeries are beginning to imitate the wassants! like breadtalk, four leaves and prima deli. and i actually like prima deli's version of wassant. (they call it choco crossiant) but provence is definitely worth the visit! whether or not you're near holland v. hahaha sometimes i simply go down to LOOK and DROOL at the buns! :D

pillowy soft bread
gosh.. i can't help but rave above this quaint french inspired jap bakery set in the heart of Holland village.
went down to have my sunday brunch at the outlet and my family ordered two breakfast sets which consisted of a bacon and egg toasted sandwich with oodles of healthy greens complimented by a light salad and a drink of your choice. Priced at $5, i thought it was pretty reasonably given the size of its portion and on top of tt, its appeal. the toasted sandwiches look divine and would make an extremely healthy and light breakfast. Something tt i was seeking for after a week of festive binging..
I got myself a blueberry cheese bun which in my impression was heavenly! think.. blueberry custard enveloped by a chewy cream cheese topping which was slighty crusty at the edges. the bread which formed the base of the bun was imaginably soft and sweet. it was gone in seconds and i rubbed my tummy in delight and satisfaction.
Now, this is only my review of one of their creations, think about the rest? i cldn't wait to get my hands on the others. therefore i proclaim tt i'll definitely be heading back soon!!!
