| Good deal! Hop on down!
If you're tired of all the Boat Quay food, no harm checking this place out. Don't expect fancy decor cos you won't get it. Honestly the level of hygiene borderlines on questionnable. But hey what you don't know doesn't hurt you I guess.
Don't except fantastic service cos you won't get it (in fact, some of the staff have a permanent 'buey kam guan' face).
But if all you want is a dirt cheap sharksfin meal, this is it. Choose from a selection of meals starting from $4.90. What I've tried:
Steamed Rice + Abalone + Scallop + Chicken: Very good
Braised Shark's Fin In Claypot + Bean Sprout + Rice : Very good but I will end up avoiding the dao gay
Sharks' Fin + Scallops + Scrambled Egg + Rice : If you don't feel like it's a waste to have simple fare like scrambled egg, it's really quite good
All meals come with soup which is usually clear soup with no 'liao' but reasonable good for free soup. Also a small bowl of dessert (cheng tng kind)
Portions are small to reflect the small prices so you'll prob have to order some side dishes. Which are also rather cheap. The fried tofu is good and it comes with really cute tiny mushrooms.
You can choose between having plain rice and hor fun. Take the latter. It's really good. It's the skinny kind, like ipoh hor fun kind of size. If you want rice AND hor fun, why not, it'll only cost you $1+ more.
There's also another branch at Lucky Plaza.
Not the kind of place you'd bring important people to impress them. But the perfect hidden find if you want to impress fellow cheapos. Great for CBD workers |
