Just wanna let u guys know more about santouka and which dish is best to order cuz I worked there recently.Read MoreHide
Most of the time, customers ask me which ramen is the best, which is most popular, which soup is the nicest, what is the difference between all the soups, what's the difference between the sizes of the bowls (s,m,l)...
Ok firstly, almost everyone orders the toruniku pork cheek ramen. The pork cheeks are really popular i guess because it is purely meat with no fats(unlike the char siu).
Soup: Shio(salt), shoyu(soy sauce), miso(miso paste), Kara miso(spicy). Shio is the original soup and it is the least salty out of the rest. However, my personal fav is miso. Subjected to peference of course. Many prefer shio esp the Japanese customers. Add soup: $3. No adding of noodles. (Unlike tonkutsu)
The gyoza is good. Smells really awesome but I feel it is too oily sometimes. Depends. Maybe u can request less oil.
For drinks, I would not recommend ordering the soft drinks cuz it's like $4/drink. idk why customers still order them, I guess it's just a must for some. Just not value for money.
The salads are good. It comes in a pretty big bowl(that's what I like abt it) but averages $8. Still, I think if u are a vege lover, do give it a try.
From the words of the chef, who goes around Singapore to try all the different ramen, his view is that santouka is comparable to tori king. well, from my personal point of view, I've tried many different kinds of ramen in SG and tonkutsu king is the best for me. However, the thing abt santouka is tt the noodles are yellow and the soup is less thick.
Lastly, santouka has the best deals that are super value for money. Really, sometimes I wonder how do they even do business like that when they are charging customers the 1 for 1 deal/free bowl ramen, free karage, free gyoza... Cuz some customers use these E-coupons and redeem all their bowls of ramen. Imagine paying only $10 only/bowl of generous ramen. Esp for families, do try the parent child set. Also children under 7years old get a free drink QOO(worth $4 in menu). But really, sometimes I just see if the kid looks young, ill just give it to them.
Hope this review helps.
