Good ramen and generous serving size

    13 May 2013
Apparently some haters are saying bad about santouka (those ppl with no profile pic and the one and only review post just to defame santouka. you readers must know who those ppl are)

We bought voucher from some group deal site and for 12SGD, the voucher offered their famous Tokusen Toroniku Ramen and 5-piece gyoza. I would like to say the portion they offered was really generous - more than often the food offered from vouchers are cheap in price but small in portion (smaller than usual serving, a.k.a. "tasting portion", i guess), but santouka really showed us good faith.  The quality of the toroniku was superb, tender and juicy, and 6 PIECES was so generous that we had to try our best to finish them!! The ramen was already more value than what we paid, and came together from the voucher was the 5-piece gyoza. The gyoza tasted nice, we liked the firm stuffing.

As a ramen fanatic, I dont think anywhere else in Singapore you can get such reasonably priced and qualtiy ramen. So TO HATERS: even if you choose to be a hater, try to be a reasonable one .

Besides the voucher, we also ordered Grilled Charshu and Awase-Aji mixed soup ramen. All that we ordered tasted good, and we are definitely coming back again.

We spent 43SGD for 2 pax (incl. 12SGD voucher).

Great drop in quality and quantity

      29 Apr 2013
I used to visit this place quite frequent few years back, there used to be a long queue.  Went there on Sunday 28 April, found it strange there was no queue at all.  Only when i started eating then i realise why.  The ramen quality has dropped drastically, not only that, for 12.50 sgd, i only get like a small morsel of ramen with just 1 piece of pork.  I'm already a small eater, imagine if you are normal eater.  To top that off, i ordered a 180ml sake, it came in a big fat jap flask which was 1/3 filled, i only managed to pour out 2 small tea cups of sake (not even 100mi!!!).  I asked the staff (from a certain big populous country) to check, and she just told me in the face "yes it's 180ml".  Service level has also dropped tremendously.  I will never ever visit this place anymore and I advise others not to do so, Singapore is a paradise of good food, we shouldn't let those who cannot keep up with the rest make lousy food for us.

        Salty and dry ramen broth

        07 Apr 2013
Sorry to all Santouka Ramen fans, but I find that the ramen broth is a little too salty which results in dryness after that. As for the highly recommended pork cheeks, I found it quite hard. I also tried the cheesecake which costs $1.50!! I don't think it's really worth it as the cake is really small.
