My friend recommended me to this bakery when we were having lunch at Fika Swedish Cafe & Bistro.

The smell of the durian swiss rolls were soooooooo alluring that I had to buy 1 roll to satisfy my curiosity if this bakery really lives up to its standards.

The lady tending the shop told us that the most popular flavours are Durian, Mango & Kaya. But I bought the Durian & Strawberry instead. Durian Swiss Roll costs $6.50, while Strawberry Swiss Roll costs $6.

The Swiss Roll is very soft and yummy! I think I will go back to try out the other flavours too!

    Must tries: Durian Swiss Rolls

Unlike your typical swiss roll, those sold here are much more traditional, being long and thin (28.5cm long and about 4.5cm wide)

The sponge cake is pillowy soft, smooth and dense (in the sense that they're not airy and porous. but they're definitely not heavy!).

Kaya roll ($6.50 each, $12 for two)- The tasty, traditional kaya filling was smooth and coconut-y, and perfectly complemented the sponge layer. This roll is simple but yet delectable!

Durian roll($6.50 each, $12 for two)- This sandwiches some pretty pungent durian-flavored cream and durian pulp! YUM~ Being a durian lover, this durian roll has definitely won my stamp of approval!

Mango roll- Filled with sweet mango cubes and mango cream, this was quite nice as well. This will appeal to fans of mango cake. Tastes best when eaten on the day of purchase!

Strawberry roll- Filled with strawberry jam with occasional strawberry chunks. This was outshone by the rest.

Heard about the rich and good cake shop for sometime already but never went to try it for myself.

For a swiss roll that's $6.50 each for a size of 1 foot long, it's very worth it. The durian and kaya fillings were very good.
They not only smell good but taste good too.

I bought the durian puffs to try as well. The filling used were different from the rolls. Not as good but still worth trying.

Must tries: Kaya and durian rolls

Although their signature is their pandan and durian flavour swissrolls but i bought the chocolate flavour instead. It's quite long...abt 30cm i think. It is spread with butter and fresh cream. The sponge is super soft... unlike those dat are dry which are normally found in the bakeries found in ur neighbourhood.

Everybody seems to know of the shop once i reach the street as it is very popular.

Do drop by if u happen to be around bugis area.

Unlike the common short and fat swiss rolls you find in your regular bakeries, Rich and Good Cake Shop makes theirs slim and long.

I tried the Kaya and Durian swiss rolls. They're really really good! The sponge cake is super soft and so light that it melts in your mouth. The kaya spread is fragrant and creamy without being too sweet. The durian spread is equally as good. You can even see bits of flesh mixed in with the vanilla cream.

The swiss rolls are best consumed within 3 days. However, I seriously doubt the swiss rolls can last for that long because they would be gobbled up in seconds.

These folks are known for their swiss rolls - the kaya and durian ones are winners for being fresh, moist and absolutely delicious pick-me-ups.

They are as stated - kaya rolls are filled with green kaya (no added cream) whilst durian rolls contain the fruit fibre - genuine aromatic stuff that will make your friends drool if you take a few bites in the car.

    2 long-ish rolls in a box cost just $6*2 =$12.

There are other variants- coffee, blueberry, mango, chocolate, strawberry - all cheaper at $5*2 = $10 per box but the kaya and durian rolls are what they do best.

Other pastries like walnut cakes and durian puffs are sometimes available.

Located in a charming old shophouse along Kandahar Street off North Bridge Road, this is in one unlikely location. Customers walk into an old shop with a standing fridge filled with boxes of the swiss rolls - you don't see the stuff on display and there is nothing to admire but you don't have to. Try a roll to see why Rich and Good has done so well over the years. It's something simple and fresh that you can eat as often as you like - an example of how an adherence to the basics always works.
