Despite its name, this buffet restaurant serves not only Japanese cuisine but Western and Asian dishes too. The spread includes all the Japanese standards like sushi, sashimi, tempura and teppanyaki, complemented by dim sum, lobster salad, grilled meats, among others.
I feel that this is the best sakura branch i have been to so far, with the most variety and they even have 10 percent discount for SAFRA members and $12 one hour lunch specials.Was fascinated with their crab bee hoon soup with crab claw but the crab claw shall was not broken, i couldnt eat it, requested for a change of new one, but the counter staff did not replace for me.Like their satays,sushis and kueh lapis which was snapped up quickly but the staff did not refill it.Place was rather cramp and staff was slow at clearing tables.
Brought my family of 5 for dinner. Was greeted by a friendly staff at the door which escorted us to our table within minutes. Food otherwise is horrible. Lack of varieties, dried up food left under heat lamps, long waiting time for "clip" orders, tasteless food and undercook chicken being served. Standards have drop tremendously over the past few years. Last visit for sure.
Worst buffet with poor service! DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. With FB given, no acknowledgement from Management!
My family and I were at Sakura (@ SAFRA Tampines) on Sunday, 7 September 2014 @ 8pm. We left at 9.05pm as there was nothing much to eat!! Most of the food items were EMPTY!! To my GREAT disappointment, many of the food items and trays were empty and NO ATTEMPTS were made to replenish them. Many other diners were walking up & down the food aisle, waiting for food to be replenished. After what seemed like eternity, regrettably only 2 items were replenished. The attitude of your staff (Mark) is appalling. He proudly claims to be the Manager of the branch. He was at the counter chatting with a Filipino lady (she looks like one or she could be a Eurasian). They were talking about places he went with friends on his off-day. What a bad example he sets for your other service staff. At one point when I was talking to him, he did not even bother or have the basic courtesy to look up & listen to me. Instead he continued with his writing, head bent on his paper work (looks like closing the accounts for the day at 9.05pm). Downright rude!!! This is certainly not the right attitude of a service staff, even very unbecoming of a "Manager"!!
I have taken many pictures of the empty food trays at the counter. As a Manager, the guy Mark was not doing his job, ensuring that there was enough food for diners. Soup was not topped up (my children waited and waited and waited, nothing was replenished), laksa gravy was boiling till burnt, pasta was dried, burnt & not replenished. Japanese food items were empty ... together with many others. I emailed to the restaurant (Feedback Dept) on the very night but did not receive any acknowledgement from them. Just want to highlight this to all who may be thinking of trying buffet at this place ..... not a good idea based on my experience, definitely not value for money and not to mention the poor service from Mark, the MANAGER! Wouldn't want to recommend nor step foot into this AWFUL place ever again!
