| give it a miss
we dropped in for dinner as we were nearby - the ambience is good by the water but is very average lebanese at a high price. i would say 30% more than the place in holland village. 2 or 3 of the menu items they didnt have - the service was average - mildly chaotic despite there being nearly as many waiters as diners.
we had 5 starters, 2 lebanese teas (pretty good) and a coffee for $107.10 - not worth it. the food is very average.
i doubt this place will survive as they rely on business people with expenses accounts from the fullerton. we won't miss sanobar. |

| Ridiculous
Our main purpose there was to just chill out..Made a rsvn for 11 people, however I had 2 more friends coming. We told the waiter we needed 2 more chairs, his reply was there were no more chairs. Anyway we mananged to get the 2 chairs as there were actually plenty of them..
We ordered just a couple of appetisers( like maybe 1 or 2) and a few platers to share. They served us 6 appetisers excluding the ones we ordered as they mention that we have to take it as they were part of the table.. If they say so then i guess we dint have a choice right? The problem was that we are not really vegetable lovers.. so bascially 4dishes which we dint touch.. each dish average about $15-$20.. TOTALLY WASTED! At least they could have given us the choice to choose our appetisers. Their platers were not too bad...
When the bill came... it was like almost $600. (p/s all of us only had water, which was like only 2 bottles) i think we had only tried the most 4 cubes of meat on the plater..( wasting the appetisers which we dint order that came with the table) and we all had to pay abt $55 each per person..
We felt that it was really ridiculous paying that amount. It was a total rip off for all of us. The least they could do was to inform us beforehand when we were sitted at the tables that it was compulsary to get a certain number of appetisers. By doing so we could/should have the option to choose the appetisers since we have to pay such exorbitant amount for it. unknowingly we had ordered abt 2 appetisers which was just adequate for us..but we ended up we had too many extras.. |

| nice ambience
Headed down to sanobar after reading the not bad reviews here to check out the place for myself. We got a place in their alfresco area which is quite pretty.. nice for an intimate dinner i would think.
My dining partner n i ordered a cheese borek as our starter ( $17), i had requested for a falafel wrap which wasn't in the menu but they said it could be done ($12), my friend got the famous lamb chops ($25) and we had a cocktail each ($15).
The cheese borek was , as my friend put it, basically like cheese popiah.. which is a good thing. I thot it was quite light and pretty tasty. Our drinks were not bad either.. not too strong but that's really fine with me.. i thought the alcohol amount was just nice. My falafel wrap was alright.. not bad not great. My friend's lamb chops looked damn yummy tho.. i dun usually eat red meat but it looked so good i took a little bite from her and it definately tasted as yummy as it looked.. and it was sooo tender. However the portion size was a little small.. quantity over quality i guess. To end the meal as usual no matter how stuffed i am i need to have dessert.. so i got the baklava ($3). I actually really really liked it, i thought it was gonna be overly sweet but i guess if u share it's not too overwhelming.
I gave the service a 6.8 because there were two staff serving us, one was a female and one was a male i think maybe he was middle eastern im not too sure. The female staff was really nice and friendly and gave us some good recommendations. Sanobar doesn't serve tap water but she gave us a glass of iced water each after the baklava cuz it's quite a sweet dish.. which we really really appreciated. The male staff however i felt was a bit.. high and mighty. I initially asked him if i could request for a falafel kebab.. and he looked at me like i was from outer space and said "there's no such thing as a falafel kebab". And i've seen the words "Falafel kebab" in lyk many many kebab shops so i used that as my defense and he explained tt kebab usually means grilled meat or something.. and maybe what i meant was a falafel wrap. Ok geez my bad but there's need to be make me feel like an ignorant fool la. Maybe he didn't intend to sound like a snob but.. well he did. That's prob the only bone i have to pick with this place. I might come back to try their other menu items and to see some belly dancing action.
p.s. apparently their citibank 10% is for lunch only and their citibank happy hour promo is only from mon - thurs only.. just for ya info :) |

| great Ambience. that's about it.
First Impression of the place was not bad. There were about 10+ of us and we sat outside. The ambience was really good and the night was pleasent with the wind blowing gently.
The food then came. That was when things started going wrong. Appetisers wise, there was nothing much worth mentioning that really struck me and made me want to go back there for it. the Pitas was dry and made no impression.
Main course came about and the only thing that was worth mentioning, in all honesty, was the lamb chop. It was quite good. That was a slight saving grace, otherwise, my score for F&B would have been 1. I would pass on the other food should i find myself there again one day, which is highly unlikely.
The bill then came. I paid in excess of 700 for food alone. I was charged $10 per bottle of sparkling water and $3.50 for a small bottle of evian. Beer is $13 per glass, but its a large glass. |

| Love me Tender
Love from first site... I was instantly taken by the lovely ambiance and the Middle Easter decore... they have made the effort to woo us for sure. Music was Arabian original and set the atmosphere for the ideal night.
Love me tender... \my date was in the mood for some food and if you have experienced Middle Eastern food, you'd know this hummus was sensational and the tabouli salad was freshly cut... sensational.
Highlight to me was the lamb kebabs in a few different flavors and certainly the Lebanese sweets to conclude the night...Their services was very good, talkative and friendly...
Of course I was too full to dance the night away but loved it. |
