If there were a few more Segafredos in Singapore, we could jolly well bid farewell to Starbucks and Coffee Bean. That is not to say that Segafredo's coffee should be compared against these lesser lights. Rather one would reach a point of no return by discovering once and for all what a good coffee really tastes like.
A gem of a find, it is nestled in one of the most humble locations within Raffles Place. It offers probably as genuine an Italian coffee bar experience- an ultra modern rendition- as you could possibly get in Singapore. The real Italian experience, which requires you to pay an extra 30-40% of the menu price just to sit down, would probably not go down all that well here!
The cappuccino, an aromatic espresso shot infused with a perfectly balanced dash of milk and topped off with a silky smooth layer of froth, is my all-time favourite and is an absolute must-try. The cafe latte is one of the best I have had too but the extra shot of milk tend to drown out the aroma of the espresso. The mezzo mezzo is the staff's recommendation but I have yet to get around to it as I've never failed to succumb to the charm of the cappuccino.
On a warm day, you may want to pop over to Chevron House and check out their spread of gelato as well. It is no designer ice-cream like Haagen-Dazs but, hey, it is wonderful all the same - at a third of the price!
Must tries: Espresso
Cappuccino
Cafe Latte
