| What was that?
Shillawon is not even close to true authentic korean tasting restaurant.
My experience there was bad. The place smells bad when i stepped inside, no one to attend to me and the tables were dirty too.
I ordered from the Ala Carte menu, one beef soup, seafood pancake and Japchae. I only have one word for it. Horrible.
The soup came with a few pcs of miserable beef slices. I can even count how many there are exactly with 10 fingers. The Japchae was served as though it has just been tossed onto the floor and being picked up again. Everything that was served was tasteless.
Not even worth eating, I'm never going back again. |

| Nothing Great for the Weekday Buffet Dinner...
After reading the other reviews, i was very excited and invited my friends for dinner.
We went on a weekday and paid $24.90++, ard $30 each for the buffet.
The meat were cut into tiny little pieces, very strongly flavoured and very little varieties as most of the dishes were available only on weekends at $29.90++.
The only meat that we can choose from is beef, pork and chicken(breast meat) which were marinated only in 2 different types of sauces each.
For the cooked food. we tried the seafood and pumpkin pancakes, kimchi soup and sweet sour pork. Tasted decent only.
We did not even get fresh prawns. It is available only on weekends.
Yes, there's also free flow of 1 type of green vegetables, bamboo shoots, salmon, cold fried prawns, garlics, green chillies, korean sauce and a soya sauce chilli seasoning in the little salad corner.
Their tea, orange juice and lime juice is good.
It is not value for money to go for a weekday buffet.
The lunch sets and weekend dinner looks more interesting though.
I would rather go to Awon for a simple korean bbq buffet.
It is definietely not worth the price to pay for the ambience. |

| Smell like a walking BBQ pork
We paid $29.90++ per pax for weekend buffet (which I think is a little expensive).
The marinated meat were thinly sliced, but the portion was generous. Pork & beef are good, can give chicken a miss though.
The spread at the buffet table was considered good. Not sure if the spread is the same on weekdays when the dinner is $23.90. I like the free flow of vegetable (to eat with BBQ meat) at the buffet spread. They are clean and fresh.
Be prepared to smell like a piece of walking BBQ-ed meat after that. |

| reasonable price for korean bbq
checked out this place with my friends coz it's quiet and a great place to chill out n chit chat.
more worth for weekday dinner buffet @ 19.90++...nett is $23.50. love the marinated beef (for a person who doesn't really take beedf.. that's something). didn't like anything particular in the menu... but they don't taste bad either.
typical food korean buffet but what sets it above other korean bbqs is it's quiet surroundings and friendly service staff. |

| Good value for lunch
As I reviewed HGW, I decided to go this restaurant.
It was noon but we were the first customer on that day.
I wondered what time the other people get up.
We ordered 2 lunch sets, stone bowl Bibimbab and beef Jjigae, and Kimuchi Jijimi/Buchimgae (kimuch pancake). These are $12 to 15.
As usual, several small plates were served at first, which included sesami oil marinated spinach, tofu with kochujyan souce, kimchi, fried small dry fish, soy bean sprout and (half-boiled) broccoli & cauliflower. I do not think brocccoli and cauliflower are usually served.
Bibimbab was very nice though not much browned crispy rice were made on inside of the stone bowl surface. Many kochujyan made it better taste.
You must try it.
Beef Jjigae was also tasty. Beef itself was not so soft and not so good though it was cut very thin. But soup was a good balance of taste. Salty, a bit sweet and deep (=a sort of dense of broth).
Kimuchi Jijimi was a little bit oily for me and so so. Next time I will try seafood Jjijimi.
We ordered 3 dishes (2 lunch sets + 1 dish) only but we were satisfied with taste and volume. Enjoyed it.
Someone may think this is a dinner place but I recommend for a lunch time, too. |
