Apart from its food, zen ambience, and impressive service (their staff were always exceptionally polite and eager to share about food items on the menu), the best thing about Shinkei Japanese Restaurant is its accessibility. These factors combine to make dining at Shinkei a most unique experience, especially because it is located in the heartlands.
But that’s not all! The owners of Shinkei Japanese Restaurant really care for each and every customer, and they have in place a number of promotions available! First off, diners stand to enjoy up to 48% off the total bill based on the number of times the digit ‘8’ appears in their NRIC (for a maximum of 10 diners between 15 May to 31 July from Mondays to Thursdays).
This restaurant is located at the building next to Toa Payoh Library.
They offer an ala carte buffet where you can order appetisers/ sashimi/ soups/ noodles etc and they will prepare for you ala minute and serve to you. If you like a particular dish, you can order it over and over again. And the best thing is, its fixed price!
I came by this restaurant for lunch and since it was a working day and had meetings in the afternoon, I opted for the bento lunch. They are quite affordable, around the price range of $13 - $20, depending on what you ordered.
I ordered the Yakitori bento set, while my colleague ordered the beef set. The portions were very well-proportioned, even though it was a set lunch. There were rice, several sticks of yakitori (chicken, chicken balls) side salad and soup.
Good value for money and I will come by to try their ala-carte Japanese Buffet soon.
