yummy yammy rice
Apr 5, 2007its called restaurant, but it jus looks like a coffeeshop, very spacious, lotsa tables n seats, n very very windy and cooling, its good cos its next to a road, it can get quite dusty n "fume-my", but its too windy tat the food gets cold fast...haha, but its still quite a pleasant place :)
there's not many choices here, there's fishball noodle/laksa stall, young tau fu stall (not opened on a weekday lunchtime...????) and the most prominent & which takes up most space is the duck rice/kuey chap stall. 1st look will leave u stunned by the overwhelming quantities & the vast varieties of the ingredients...there must have been double the varieties in ingredients that the usual kuey chap u find anywhere, it was amazing! i've never seen so much ingredients in a kuey chap stall in my life!
the service is pretty good, the guy who took my order was very patient with my questions, my confusion, n also patiently clarified my order to make sure i was clear wat i ordered n to make sure he got my order correct, haha...
the quantity given for the 6 of us were huge, all of us went off with very stuffed n satisfied tummies...the yam rice is 1 of the nicest! the look of it seems dubious cos the color of the rice is very light & pale, but the yam taste is so evident & strong & authentic! u can actually almost taste the freshness of the yam...n there are also yummy chunks of yam in the rice, very soft & fragrant :) my colleague who sat besides me was nodding his head, smiling n "hmm-ing" for a good 5 mins since he tucked in...
the duck meat is tender n tasty, the fishcake is unique, very soft, u can taste the fish meat, definitely 100% real fish used...but a lil' salty...makes u feel very very thirsty after the meal...the rest of the ingredients are pretty "normal", tho we din have the innards, we only have the tau-gua, tau-pok, fishcake, egg, n duck meat...
it was a satisfying meal :)
update: i went again with my colleagues, tis time i tried the kuey chap, i wanted to order a mix of duck meat, egg & intestine, guess how much it costs? $8.20!!! woh-ho~~~gd thing the guy told me, so in the end i only hav the duck meat, but it still cost a whopping $5.20!!!!!
well, the kuey chap's nice, the gravy is very tasty, but for $5.20?? naw, tats way too much to pay...so tis will be the 1st & last time i'll be eating from tis stall on my own....moral of the story, pls pls, if u wanna eat here, eat with a big group, tats definitely more worth it, dun eat it on ur own...hey, once again, tis is one "friendly" food u cant eat it on your own hahaMust Tries

I am very disappointed!
Feb 17, 2010After we ordered the food, we waited for almost an hour without being served with any food. The time is about 8pm. Apparently a few other tables has already had their food served completely. I actually approached the waiteress with the request to provide us with the Yang Chao Fried Rice first since my two children have been waiting for the food. However to my observation, she did not take any action. I again approach the counter and enquire for the status of my order. To my surprise, none of my ordered food are cooked yet. It makes me very disappointed and I made the decision to cancel all orders and go to the other hawker center for my family dinner... Such a disappointing experience. If you still insist want to go to this restaurant, please ask the waitress on how long should you wait for it before ordering.
