Apple Cobbler, seafood spaghetti, brownie and more.
Aug 30, 2007Opened less than a month in a newly renovated area in IMM, this new place is excellent for a lunch or dinner informal date with good food. They serve a wide variety of food, from pasta, pizza, entres like steak, salmon, to desserts, ice cream and of course coffee.
Reservation: Don't think they do reservations, about 12 tables with 4-5 chairs willl seat that many persons. Come early.
Food / Beverage: Ate the seafood pasta with free soft drink which is on promo - $7.90 each. Seafood pasta came with half a small crayfish, prawns, a large mussel, served with garlic and chili. Pasta was done correctly - al dente, could have added a bit more garlic. Tasty nevertheless. Large soft drink came with this meal. I ordered the caesar salad $3.50, a large serving of salad with the correct caesar dressing, penne with tomato and fried calamari rings as the topping $5.00 with the topping. For dessert, we shared an apple cobbler - this is a medium sized apple pie with crumble and walnut bits at the top, served with a single scoop of icecream and chocolate drippings - best buy of the day. We were admiring the pies and decided to buy them home - chicken, pepper beef and shepherd's pie. To eat later. Overall a good meal.
Ambience: Has a private dining area behind the stall and comfortable seating, set back away from the pedestrian area, provides more privacy than eating in the kopitiam which is along the pedestrian walk way. Cool and bright.
Value: Good food for low prices, overall excellent value.
Service: Order at the counter, they will serve you the freshly cooked food at the table.Must Tries

better than pasta mania
Sep 10, 2007we need pasta and western style food that is better than pasta mania, and this is one.
It's one of the places that serves decent pasta and the like in the Jurong area, which has seen few far and between.
I tried the Grilled chicken on hotplate, which comes with pasta in tomatoe sauce. cost about $6.90. Chicken was well seasoned and crispy, with a smokey BBQ flavour, and was tanned and rather tender. not bad. it sat on top of a generous serving of pasta in tomato sauce which was quite good too, though there were no other ingredients that tomato sauce. but it's not plain tomatoe sauce. my guess is that its specially made with some other ingredients so it's not the anyhow anyhow type of tasteless sauce.
i appreciated the generous serving. it helps that there is free flow of chilli flakes and cheese to adjust the taste to your liking.
the clam chowder cost 1.90, was quite thick and had bits of clam and potatoes. nothing fantastic, thought it was a little sour too but for that price, i did not expect anytihg better. was good enough.
also tried the seafood pasta which came with a free drink (during promo period only, lasts till end of september). could have been a little saltier but it's good enough and better than most if not all food court pastas and pasta manias and all those kind of 'economic pasta' places. dont mind eating it again.
overall, it's a good enough place in IMM or jurong when you feel like eating pasta or western style food without going above $10 per pax. but yet, it's better than food court pastas. i think we need more of this kinda places. yes, so, Thumbs up!Must Tries

Fiid by Proxy
Oct 6, 2009I have never eaten here.
But I think my family has had everything.
My dad has bought everything on the menu for us to try, and while there have been some misses, most are great.
Things you MUST eat.
The Italian Chocolate cake is heaven. Some crumb, dense and heavy, and a wonderful chocolate taste and aroma which is neither cloying or off putting. We had ours in the fridge for about a week, so I heated it in the oven, and it was gorgeous. Never going to be a light cake, the scent was wonderful, the warmth amazing. It was screaming for table cream (skip the ice cream, it would mull the taste), which unfortunately I did not have - the Brits have got it right.
The Shepard's Pie. A thick layer of tasty and smooth (not overly smooth, so they obviously mash it themselves) potato covers the wonderful meat beneath. No one flavour stands out, which works for me. Instead, the taste of herbs, tomato etc all meld in together.
The Hazelnut Mango Roulade. Wonderful! Just wonderful. The mango is mashed into the cream, and there are pieces of sweet and tart mango in the roll. The hazelnut is in the sponge and they are all rolled together into a heavenly roll of sweet, tart and fluffy wonderness.
The apple crumble was ok compared to the rest. Nothing to shout about.
There is plenty else, which I have not tried. Black Pepper Chicken, Vegetable Pie etc.
The best thing about this, it tastes so good, and doesn't cost the earth.
