Prata Mid-Nite Hangout
13 Feb 2012Any late activities, be it at Zouk, or at friends' houses or working till late, this shop is a good choice for the hungry goers.
The same old and familiar shop, and i always orders prata as usual.

AVOID AT ALL COST.
24 Sep 2011This place hands down has absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced. A prata joint by nature will have mediocre service with but this is epic beyond all proportions one can think of.
Went there in the wee hours on a Friday night and was packed. This is pretty much the de facto supper place for clubbers from my experience here. The ignorance of the "management" not deploying more staff during such peak hours boggles the mind. We took forever to get attention for a menu, and then forever to get someone to take down our order. Had to pretty much wave our hands like flies and shout to get attention. I wonder who's the customer here.
Food that we ordered didn't come, food that we didn't order came. Pure frustration when you have to get attention again just to correct those mistakes that THEY committed. The bill came fast when we asked for it (surprise surprise) and food that we did not order were added into the bill (e.g. squid & pineapple juice).
We went to the cashier (did not want to wait anymore) and told him that the bill was wrong. They started getting defensive and said that our friends on the table (who left earlier) ordered them. To confirm, I called and they verified that they did not order those items (why would they lie?).
The cashier did not want to budge and insisted that those items were ordered (who was on the table by the way? me or him?). By this time I was already formulating my review on hungrygowhere because these clowns do not probably understand the repercussions of what word-of-mouth can trigger. The cashier (with tattoos and pseudo dreadlocks) lost it and almost wanted to start a fight and one point came eye to eye with me. I didn't blink.
In the end another staff budged and took away the items that we did not order. It wasn't much but this could all been avoided if:
1. enough staff during peak hours to ensure customers get attended to quickly
2. get orders right
The food is not distasteful and have decent prices but I will not be going back there again.
I will be spreading the word around on this hair pulling experience because someone needs to remind them what Sam Walton (founder of Walmart) once said, "the customer can fire everybody in the company from chairman down, simply by spending his money somewhere else".
A look at their website (www.spize.com.sg) reviews their HR practice:
Understanding our customer base, noting preferences of regular clients, handling several orders at a time sound easy - but only practice makes perfect
I do not know how the staff gets hired but this joint should be a classic case-study in a Management 101 textbook of what atrocious service results in. Period.
