Swensen's has developed over the years to become a restaurant chain offering not only ice cream, but fun and friendly casual-dining with a wide selection of hearty food, desserts, beverages, ice cream cakes and takeaway novelties.
As usual, when we return home for a few days, we will stop off for lunch here. They have good lunc sets that begin from around $15 and you can choose a side dish or ice cream (priced from $11). Food is generally good and portions are large. I do enjoy their desert. I like the vanilla ice cream and the banana boat dessert. The environment is clean and service is good value for money. A good place to bring your family and friend. I love it especially since it hala!
I was very pleased with my experience overall. This Swensen's location is attached to the bigger IMM shopping center, which makes it a convenient stop for food if you are already in the area doing some shopping. Swensen's is basically a chain restaurant that I had heard about in the states, but has become quite popular in Singapore in recent years. They serve more westernized style food, like french fries and burgers, chicken tenders, and pasta. They also have a large menu selection dedicated to different ice cream selections too, and the restaurant as a whole has an ice cream parlor type vibe.
I would have to say that their approach on western food is ok. I ordered the crayfish pasta, and was generally pleased with my dish overall. It could have used a little bit more flavor on the pasta in terms of the sauce seasoning, but the pasta itself was cooked nicely. It came with one crayfish that was split in half, so maybe adding more meat options into the dish would have also made it more enjoyable. I had also ordered a coke with my meal, and it came out in a small cup for around $2.50 SGD. It had ice, and was non refillable, and I wish I got more drink for what I had to pay for. I ordered a second one and told them to hold the ice, so I could get more liquid! Come to think of it, one 2L of Coke cost about $2.50 also…
For dessert, I think I got something called the Golden Gate, which was a waffle of two wafers, and some scoops of ice cream! It was nice and simple and very enjoyable! It's named after the golden gate bridge in San Francisco because it is decorated as such, which was a nice touch.
