Eat weekend breakfast

Breakfast - http://phuachiuyen.blogspot.sg/2011/06/short-hair.html

I like the weekend breakfast Swensen offers. Northpoint's outlet is quite big and peaceful on weekends mornings.

You can enjoy your hearty meal with orange juice/apple juice. It's a very small cup but fret not, there's another cup of coffee/tea too! So you have two drinks and can sit to chat with your family or friends after eating breakfast.

Horrible Service

Decided to have dinner here with my girlfriend and her brother but after this experience we will never patronize this outlet again. We were first invited to a seat of 4 near the entrance. After 5 mins, we felt this was too warm so we wanted to change our seats. This was due to the lack of airconditioning and horrible halogen lights in the area. To my surprised, there were actually plenty of seats in the inner region of the restaurant. Why was I ushered to that warm seats in the first place? Next, we ordered our food which was pretty standard. However, our main dish came before our appetizers. We have to ask for it before it was delievered, obviously missing out our order. Which eating, we were constantly asked if we are done so they could clear our plates. I mean what's the rush. Soon after, we called for the bill and paid up. However, my girlfriend was sorting out some stuff in her wallet, but we were asked by the branch manager if we needed to order anything else. We asked why? And she said because there is a queue outside, we had to leave if we have no more orders. Again, just because I paid, am I no longer allowed to sit for 5 mins? It's not like I sat for 15mins and not moving? Throughout the meal, it's as though we were rushing to finish it and had to leave immediately. Be warned readers. Not an enjoyable experience at all.

Dining in Swensen

I went with my buddy to try out Swensen's Cafe Restaurant. I tried the Mushroom soup which came in a bowl made of bread. It was nice. I like the way they presented the soup. It was yummy. I also tried the vegetable fried pieces which were not bad. I was vegetarian on the day I tried out the food. The price was reasonable. Overall it was okay.

Good promo but so-so quality

Swensen's has been running this weekday lunch promotion of 1-for-1 main course. Decide to try it out this promotion, since 2 pax can have a decent lunch portion with half the price.

My friend and I ordered Breaded Chicken Meuniere ($14.50) and Chicken Mushroom Penne ($14.90). Sadly, the quality is so-so. My Breaded Chicken is too tough like it's been fried 2 times. My friend's Chicken Mushroom Penne, even though it has the "healthy choice" symbol, didn't really taste that "healthy". It was too salty & the chicken and mushrooms tasted only of the overpowering tomato base. But both our food were served piping hot though :)

Overall, for the price I paid (ard $18 after tax) for 2 main courses at Swensen's, it was quite worth it. But they could improve on the food quality. Service is efficient and friendly.

Great food as always but not so good service

We went to the Swensen's near our house for a simple lunch not too long ago. My mum had the Oven Baked Fish with Tumeric Sauce and I had the Crayfish Pasta which was something that I had not eaten for a long time.

Food was served quite quickly and I tried a little bit of my mum's dish, surprisingly it was very nice. The coconut rice is fragrant, just like the nasi lemak rice. The tumeric sauce is also equally good, tasted like thai green curry, Yum Yum!! We just did not like the raisins that were in the rice.

As for my crayfish pasta, it was a little disappointing as it did not taste as nice as in the past. The tomato sauce was a little bland and there was too much mushrooms! One would wonder did I order crayfish pasta or mushroom pasta.

However, Swensen's is still my favourite western food restaurant. There is definitely room for improvement for the service at this outlet though.
