was introduced by a close friend of mine so my partner and I went to try this place out.

ordered quite a number of food and none of the dishes disappoint us. love their porridge though - smooth texture with decent amount of toppings inside (in our case was chicken slices and additional $1 fish meat)

bill came to about $30 for the both of us. prices are not really that cheap for the dim sums but price of the porridge is definitely a steal. service wise... our order came quite fast as soon as we have ordered. waiting time around... 5-10mins?

seats are quite limited, if you are coming in a large group, be prepare to wait a bit cos i think there's one 3 tables that can accommodate to 5 pax and above.

Have I mentioned how much I love eating with my friends? They are serious about eating. Look at the amount of food we THREE persons ate. Let me list down: rice with salted fish and steamed minced pork ($3.50); Fried Carrot Cake ($0.90); two baskets of Chicken Feet ($2.80 each); Pork Rib with black bean sauce ($2.80); Char Siew Bun (one small one for $0.90); Crispy Yam Dumpling ($0.90); steamed yam cake ($2.50); two baskets of har gow ($3.00 each); 2 Frog legs with dried chili ($16); two baskets of siew mai ($2.80 each),cheong fun with char siew filling ($3); and not in the pictures are appetizer($1), Chinese tea ($1 per pax), 2 bowls of plain congee ($1.20 each); raw fish($5); lime juice ($1.80); cheong fun with prawn ($3); long'an drink ($1.50).

WOW, I finally finished listing the food we ate. Did I also mention that my two friends are WOMEN? Take that, you wimpy-man-who-can't-eat-much.

It is not true that all items are reasonably priced. For example, one tiny char siew bun costs $0.90. There is also nothing spectacular about the quality of the food, not very fresh, not very well executed. You pay for what you eat... and I don't know about you, but I'd like to know the ingredients I eat are good.

But that being said, the place was very comforting and comfortable. I love sitting outdoor under the stars, not al fresco lah, not so high crass, outdoor as in outdoor kopitiam style lah, sitting by the roadside of the Chinatown shophouses. The food tasted good and were ample. The service was kopitiam-nice, especially the uncle. The aunties weren't too friendly. Not a bad place if you are not picky and want fuss-free, no-frills dim sum.

My friend introduced me to Tak Po few days ago. It wouldn't be hard to miss out on this one because it is so crowded and people are just waiting around trying to grab seats.

As we normally don't fuss about the setting of the place, the kopitiam tables and chairs were pretty much ignored. We managed to get a breezy area located outside the cafe. The server who helped to clean up our table was efficient and sincere. He attended to us with patience and wore a smile on his face all the time.

We ordered the congee and dimsum, together with the Tie Guan Yin chinese tea. The congee actually came in a huge bowl and was enough to be divided among two of us as we had too much dimsum. Plus it was only $2.20! We ordered the century egg congee with pork, was delicious and fragrant.

The outstanding dimsums we had were the:

    - Scallop seaweed dumpling, 3 pcs: $3.50

It's similar to siewmai, and has this sushi feel because the seaweed wraps the scallop filling. My friend and I actually fought for the dumplings

    - Rice roll with prawn, 2 rolls: $3.00

Prawns were extremely succelent and fresh, sauce wasn't too sweet or salty. Just nice.

The chinese tea came in a huge pot and was only $2.00.

We spent a total of $25.25 inclusive of GST, no service charge, though I really wish to commend on the efficient and helpful servers at Tak Po.

Oh one thing to add, public transport might be a better idea because there seems to have limited carparks/parking areas around there. Plus it's really near Chinatown MRT!

I will definitely go back, great place to bring my parents and friends for a fuss-free weekend brunch!

Must tries: Scallop seaweed dumpling, century egg congee, rice roll with prawn

Tak Po offers all sorts of dim sum. And I have to say, for this price, it is actually really good! I can never find such nice dim sum at this price.

I have to give more attention to their porridge actually. It is so cheap, so nice, yet such a big bowl! A bowl of it cost around $3, and yet needs to be shared among 2-3 people! Never ever order porridge if you're feasting on dim sum, unless there is a big eater among you.

    Nice quick service provided too.

If you are simply looking for a no hassle, fuss-free kind of dim sum,

then this is it. Tak Po offers nothing out of the ordinary in terms of

dim sum selection. Its dim sum is not bad but not exceptionally good

either. Just good enough to fill your stomach I suppose...
