    Entertaining

    01 Jan 2013
A meal here is not exactly cheap, but the entertainment value and service that come with it, make up for it.  The chef actively engaged us in conversations and showed his skills with his cooking utensils, like juggling and flipping the egg, throwing the salt holder into the smoke absorber above, etc.  The food is quite nice, especially the rice which did not had any hard and bitter bits founf commonly in garlic fried rice, and kurobuta, an item the restaurant gladly changed for us since we do not eat beef.  Nicely and mildly flavored.  Though do not expect the food to be mind blowing good.  The taste is of the more safe type, that seeks to please instead of to excite or stand above the rest.  Enjoyed the meal there because of the combination of entertainment, interaction and food.  Service is pretty good.  Ambience is well, clean.  Nice place for a teppanyaki experience.

Decent but a tad pricey for Chijmes.

      25 Aug 2012
Good food, service was good, but a bit pricey for Chijmes. Sashimi starter for 3 was S$150, and a Wagyu set was S$108. I find Gyu Kaku for Japanese BBQ a better value.

Owner was thankful and polite, and our waitress was at tentative with a hint of a sense of humor. Recommend sitting by the chefs as this is part of the experience. We chose to sit in the back room.

        Food with fanfare

        14 Mar 2012
Great food, friendly and informative service and we rolled out of Tatsu Teppanyaki with full bellies.

There were three of us for dinner and we each ordered a Set - one seafood, one beef and one chicken. We shared each others dishes. I enjoyed everything with the exception of the lobster which I felt was smothered in mayonnaise.

Our chef performed brilliantly in front of us and explained everything he was cooking it.

This is not a cheap night but we were celebrating so it was a bit of a treat. I hadn't expected to leave a teppanyaki restaurant so full!

I also recommend this place for:
