Dunno why I have never eaten at Thai Accent despite being in Vivo for countless times. Dad wanted to bring his client to Thai place for dinner and decided to go to a nearby place from Harbourfront. I didn't object as I thought it's as good a time to check out a new place.

Dad ordered quite a few dishes and I didn't get to try every one tho.

    These were good stuff:

    • Sambal Kang kong

    • Pineapple Rice

    • Thai Fishcake

    • Deep fried fish

    • Green Chicken Curry

    This was ok lah:

    • Pandan Chicken

Didn't expect this restaurant to serve quite decent spread. Can give Thai Express a run for its money. Save to say its more costly here too. :(

    Must tries: Deep Fried Fish

    2 main course ordered

    one is seafood claypot (similar)

    the other is basil beef

    2 drinks, costing almost $50

the seafood - is reasonably okie, but slightly over-cooked, the meat are a bit tough,

basil beef - if u like strong aroma of basil and lots of chilli, u would like this. very strong taste and beef are cut into small pieces that are easy to chew. however, they are very well mixed with basil, chili and other herbs.

serving is considered big for me thou.

i was there for early dinner, hence, got a seat by the window, where we can eat and enjoy the view at the same time

I've been a fan of Thai Express, cause I thought, it was fast, tasty & easy on the pocket...so a bit hesitated to avert to another restaurant in same vicinity but my parties would like to try something else so voila, Thai Accent was the selected one...

Staff courteously welcomed us and allowed us to go into corner area when requested; gesturing that the menu was on and also as the placemat.

Upon ordering, beside taking note, the waitress repeated by CIRCLING the placemat and she got it correctly; made me commented that it was quite a good order countering system...Well, spoke too soon as we waited for our Kangkung with Shrimp paste while almost finishing other dishes that came out quickly, we were being informed by other staff that the Kangkung order didn't go with other orders to their kitchen.

Prompted us, why the Kitchen didn't have this order, when we witnessed she took note & repeated all correctly even by giving us an Evidence!!

Food wise, liked the Appetizer Combo plater with its crispy small sized Spring Rolls, tasty fried Fish Cake, fried just right on the prawn roll, all served with sweet thai chilli sauce, but didn't like the Peanut Salad, hot Green Curry Chicken, Tom Yum Clear Soup was cooked nicely in a bowl enough for 2, a sour & (I guess) quite good Mango Salad (never a fan of this salad), an okay Wrapped Chicken in Pandan Leave, another okay Shrimp Paste Fried Rice.

As other reviewers mentioned, the Warm & Ice Water were free flow and if you ordered the Thai Rice, you could requested for top up as you wish to.

Reasonable Thai Restaurant and with a view to Resort World Sentosa from their patio but a glitched ordering system was a bit let down....

    Must tries: Appetizer Combo

Just went to the restaurant over the weekend. Ordered pineapple rice with chicken, steamed garoupa, stir fried black pepper beef, sambal kangkong and claypot toufu. And some drinks and dessert. The total bill came up to about $180 for 4 persons. Think it may be a bit on the high side. But the ambience and seats are quite comfortable.

The food in general are quite ok and of course different from the usual thai express kind. But the pineapple rice does not really taste like pineapple rice. unlike the ones i'd eaten before in Parkway thai or bangkok where the pineapple rice is served in a pineapple. Think it gives more flavour and taste when it's served like that. this one seems more like it's just fried with the yellow colouring and served on the plate with lots of floss.

They are very generous with the use fragrant herbs as we can smell the aromatic lemongrass and lime leaves as soon as the Tom Yum soup is served on the table. Extremely appetizing.

Service was great. Rice and ice water well taken care of. Water is free. Good to know they have done something after ppl complain bout the $0.30 charge for ice water. :)

Although we regularly patron this place, when in doubt on what to order, we’ll just check out the signature dishes!

Feel free to check out some pictures and detailed review of my dining experience at Thai Accent! :)

In Vivocity to go to the cinema, and in need of dinner. Our previous eating experience having been fairly forgettable, we had a bit of a more measured inspection of the options and decided to try this place.

Having lived in Bangkok for a number of years prior to being sent here, we are more harsh than most on the localised Thai food that gets served up in Singapore. I was impressed by the little lass' attempt at "Sawadee Kha" on entering, and that rather summed up the evening - a decent stab at it.

Chicken wings a nice appetiser, sweet chilli sauce probably from a bottle, and thus likely from Thailand, so that did OK.

We always use Green Curry Chicken as a barometer, and Thai Accent scored well here. Good chunks of chicken, a fair ratio of chicken to vege fillers, good consistency of sauce, coconut milk not over powering and agreeably spicy. I would have preferred a bit more kick, but I had a bowl of soya sauce and 'prik kee noo' so I could compensate. As a side note here, when I requested that they got it right first time - most places bring me nam plaa, despite me always stressing soya sauce, not fish sauce.

Beef with basil, a classic Thai dish, great sauce, lots and lots of garlic and fresh red chillis, my only gripe would be that the meat itself was slightly lower in quality than I would prefer.

Kailan with Garlic, or was it Garlic with Kailan? Either way, pretty good.

The menu has been somewhat localised, kangkong with shrimp paste and pineapple rice are not Thai at all, so we steered well clear of them.

The service was fine, ambience equally so, we had a view of the building site which was obviously fairly exciting and overall I'd say pretty decent.

At the end of the day, if you want proper Thai food, go to Bangkok. Most Singaporeans don't, so this is a fair approximation, catering for the majority.

And for all the tightwads whining on about $0.30 for tap water, you'll be no doubt happy to know it's now free. I am mildy astonished that someone sentient enough to use a computer can liken getting charged 30 cents for water to being raped, but I guess it's all relative.

    Must tries: Green Curry Chicken

I’m normally quite harsh on Thai restaurants as we’ve been inundated with so many sub-standard ones pandering to local taste (read: pineapple rice, pandan chicken etc). Hence expectations weren’t high, especially with the cutesy menu. It was the aroma of steamed fish with lime and chilli that drew us in eventually.

Papaya Salad – tasty but unremarkable. I’m not a fan of this anyway, so not a fair comment.

Green Curry with Pork – listed as a chicken dish but they agreed to do it with pork. Thick and rich the way I like it, but could do with more chilli and herbs to add kick. Eggplant was softer than usual as they used the larger kind (as opposed to the walnut-sized Thai type), which might suit local tastes better.

Beancurd on sizzling hot plate – A simple Chinese cze char style dish, but I found this very homely and delicious somehow.

Steamed fish with lime and chilli – Classic Thai dish done well. Soup base is rich with stock, and nicely balanced between sour and hot, but once

again could do with more herbs (coriander etc).

Authenticity isn’t the main reason for visiting this restaurant (go to Aroy Thai or Thanying), but we were looking for a hearty, tasty Asian meal and the food was surprisingly good for a cookie-cutter mall restaurant. Pricing is very fair (strangely some have said it is high), only marginally higher than those awful "thai" franchises, for far better food. $12.90 for a good-sized portion of green curry pork isn’t too bad for Vivocity, really.

I've been to this restaurant twice with the first being an accidental "I'm famished so let's hit the nearest restaurant" visit.

Both times, the food did not disappoint & while I would not say the food is fabulous, it did surprise me that the restaurant could churn out decent food.

The dishes that I've tried include the pineapple rice with prawns, tomyam soup, green curry with chicken, asparagus with prawns, pad thai & many others. I must say that I'm suitably impressed because none of the dishes disappointed & the portions were fair for its pricing, although I must say that the mango sticky rice could do with a better rice texture & the lemongrass tea could do with a little improvement in the taste department.

All in all, a very pleasant experience each time & I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a simple Thai meal.

this restuarant has a nice view overlooking sentosa. Try to sit outside as inside is rather noisy once the crowd swells.

I do agree with fellow HGWers that the prices here are on the steep side.

Although food quality is good , the prices of some dishes are a bit ridiculous.

The clear tomyam soup comes with generous amount of prawns. But at $29 for 3-4 pax , that is quite steep. That price is about the same as what fine dininh thai restaurants charge.

Green chicken curry is good with generous amounts of chicken meat. Keep it up!

Phat thai with prawns was normal.

Wished that there could be a larger portion of Pandan chicken.

Kangkong was done right. Spicy enough yet not too overpowering.

Thank goodness i didnt request for any plain water. Didn't know that it was 60cents per cup!

Overall, try this place for a smart casual dining. But for the price, might as well top up for patara or tianying or even kha.

Must tries: Green curry chicken, kangkong, clear tom yam gung.
