I went there intending to chillax late at night. Most of the seats were located upstairs, and it was disappointing that they only had one comfy floor seating with cushions. The rest were on proper hard wooden chairs. Not exactly nice for chillaxing.

I was pretty excited to see games... but it turned out to be just a few normal games messily thrown in a heap. They didn't even have pens for us to play Boggle. As in like the entire cafe had no pens.

Food selection was limited and the sidekicks we got were the usual fried food. Nothing much to comment on that. We ordered two liquor-infused coffees and it was nothing much to scream about.

Overall a very mediocre experience. 2 drinks and some wedges cost us about $30. Definitely not worth it.

We may have tried for the fisrt time at the wrong timing. This place is maybe more for an afternoon High tea, a nice coffee with a piece of cake.....

However we tried it for dinner and even if the place was cosy it was completly empty. The staff is great and friendly but our rating on food and beverages is just so so.

I have ordered this coffee with peach liquor and honey but it was just so sweet that my trough was itchy :-)

Food is finger food standard but I was expecting more of a dining from their menu. However pasta are good and cooked "al dente".

Big disappointement is for the lava cake. Ithought they would make it fresh and melty but it was just dry and heated up in the microwave :-(

    Must tries: coffees

Stumbled upon this little gem unexpectedly when my friends and I were at BluJaz for dinner. The name of the cafe rings with promises of excellent coffee and which we were hankering for, and it did not disappoint.

The menu offers a wide range of coffee which left us a little spoilt for choice. My two unadventurous friends went for the latte and mocha, which were both not bad. My Chinchulilaa was excellent - expresso with steamed milk, peach liquer and honey. The subtle peach flavour came through admist the aromatic coffee flavour and sweetened the deal.

The coffees came with a little caramel biscuit which is delightful. I had to ask if I can have extras as it was so good. The friendly and generous owner gave me a little handul of them! (I subsequently found out NTUC carries them and I since bought quite a lot)

We found out by accident that their cakes were supplied from a rather well-liked bakery brand, so can't go wrong there. Cake flavours vary everyday as they only carry limited quantities daily and rotate the flavours.

On my return visits, I also tried the Irish Coffee, Caramel Frappe and Vietnamese Trung Nguyen. All good, but my favorite remains to be Chinchulilla.

Also had the Taste of Europe Platter which is a sausage platter consisting of bratwurst and chorizo, and delish! Only thing was, sausages don't quite go with coffee. There is a small selection of beer and one of them looks pretty interesting - and english beer which is organic, and contains honey. Will try that next time.

I particularly like sitting by the windows on the 2nd floor - very quaint. The staff are friendly although service can sometimes be a little slow. All in all, this is a lovely little place to enjoy a cuppa while flipping magazines or enjoying their free wifi.

    Must tries: Chinchulilla

This is a place that is full of surprises. Was expecting good coffee from the name of the cafe. The coffee was good, but what really surprises me was the good food that it served. Went there with a few friends for lunch, we tried to ordered something that are not usually found in a cafe. I ordered a Chicken and Mushroom Aglio Olio spaghetti, and the pasta was really al dente, few places can actually make real al dente pasta. Hawaiian Chicken, pesto prawn spaghetti, and cajun fish were ordered by my friends and they all say its  very good. Service was good, but the dishes was served a bit slow, maybe its due to another group that arrived earlier then us. But still its a worthwhile wait.

Emerging from Raffles Hospital having done a university pre-enrollment health check, J and I were in dire need for a nice cold drink, preferably caffeine-related to perk ourselves up. The Coffee Nations was the first to pop into mind.

The menu was very extensive, leaving an indecisive J and myself unsure of what to order. The staff was quick to spot us newbies and offered suggestions to narrow down our choices. In the end, J ordered the Tiramisu Latte with Oreo Cheesecake while I got the Milan Coffee with Brownie Cheesecake.

My Milan Coffee was more or less iced coffee topped with whipped cream, a scoop of chocolate ice cream and dried crushed mint leaves. No wonder it is one of the favourites here, the taste was robust and after the chocolate ice cream melted, it tasted somewhat like a hybrid mocha java chip coffee from starbucks. The mint leaves was an added plus point, adding a nice cooling sensation.

J's Tiramisu Latte had a unique taste that didn't catch my fancy.

The cheesecakes here are now sourced from Savoury Fare(rather than Rive Gauche as a previous reviewer Hui Yuan mentioned). So I think the standard might have fallen a bit.

The Brownie Cheesecake came soft and warm, soft perhaps a consequence of the unintentional latter? Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be chilled so this didn't do it for me. The taste wasn't fantastic either.

The Oreo Cheesecake was slightly better because it came slightly below room temperature. Taste was pleasant but not something I would specially return for.

I like The Coffee Nations for it's laid back setting where I can just while the day away reading a book or using a laptop in it's quiet and cosy 2nd level but I would probably stay away from the cheesecakes on my next visit.

    Bon Appetit!

    Must tries: Milan Coffee

I feel like i've been a bit stingy with my ratings but honestly I do recommend this place. I work very nearby and am a regular there.

Servicewise, the staff are very friendly and helpful, though have to say if they get busy they tend to be a little forgetful and inattentive...I did once wait over 30mins just to place an order which was not amusing given my grmubling stomach trying to convince me to just leave....Anyway, it was once, forgiven and forgotten. They are usually very good.

Atmoshphere is very pleasant, not tacky - just simple and aesthetically pleasing. Thi is a great alternative to Coffee Bean or TCC because of it's just a single branch, not a chain....They have their own wireless network and the seating is very comfortable, espeically the big sofa by the window upstairs....

As for the food and drink - simple western fare, pasta, sanwiches etc. Vert simple, but no complaints from me...The food is good,  portions are generous and very good value for lunch, though it must be said - avoid the iced fruit tea - it is sickly and from looking around at the other tables and their untouched glasses, I guess I wasn't the only one who felt so.

With that said, the coffee is wonderful. Pretty much every coffee I've had there has been good quality and their iced frappes come in varying flavours...very refreshing on a hot day...especially for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up...

    Nice place.

Must tries: Vegetarian pasta, whatta tuna sandwich.

A nice quiet little cafe situated at bali lane, with homely deco and good finger food. The specialities however, are still the coffees, which are superb, and much better than your usual fare from starbucks and coffee bean.

Me and my gf tried the irish coffee which has whisky inside to leave you with a warm buzz, as well as the chinchulila, a sweet blend of espresso, honey, peach liqueur and milk. We also shared the palm's platter (meatballs, wedges, onion rings, coleslaw, garlic bread - just nice for two people in my opinion), and the honey citrus chicken, both which were average.

Before we left, we bought a 500ml bottle of london pride (malty based ale) which was alright. All in all, we spent $70 for two people, which was reasonable considering the amount of drinks we tried.

I would recommend this place to people looking for somewhere to spend the afternoon relaxing with friends or loved ones. The couches are comfortable, cushions are provided, and magazines/board games can be loaned. This is just the place to chill out over a cup of coffee. Do not waste your time trying the usual fraps and ice blended fare you can easily get elsewhere though, I urge you to be more adventurous when selecting the drinks, it will be worth it!

    Must tries: irish coffee, chinchulila

Recommended by friend to this coffee joint. When first heard the name, I was like huh?? Go Nation?? Maid agency?? ohh... The Coffee Nations.

Play safe and ordered a cappucinno instead of fancy coffee with weird names. The coffee was very nice. The foam of the cappucinno is very smooth and the coffee taste was not overwhelming. Not bitter, or sour.

My friend ordered a coffee with ice cream and mint leave, which I tasted and surprisingly its good. Maybe next time I will order that drink.

Service was very good and prompt. Nice music but a bit retro.

Hungry and ordered a meatball pasta, and it was not bad.

Definitely a good recommendation from my friend.

Had lunch today at The Coffee Nations, a fantastic place to chill out with friends! It’s welcoming, cozy and extremely relaxing. We sat upstairs on the sofa. If you are with a bigger group of friends, you can choose to sit on the floor with cushions around.

A no-rush café for you to eat, drink or read a book on a lazy weekday afternoon. Service was excellent, friendly and casual.

I had the Chinchulilla which was one of their signature drinks. It’s espresso with steamed milk, peach brandy and honey. Smooth with a tinge of liqueur. I personally like it very much.

Main dish : Europe Platter with French Garlic Pork Bratwurst and Pork Chorizo, complemented with coleslaw. I was glad the portion was not too huge. Nothing much to shout about but for $11, it’s value for money.

My friend had Croque Madame, simple sandwich with ham egg and cheese; which she gave a rating of 7.5. Apparently she likes it.

Was disppointed with the limited cakes available. Was hoping to try their all time favourite, Blueberry Cheesecake but not available. Had a Hazelnut Praline instead which was ok. So if you like cakes, go on Friday nights or weekends when they stock up more varieties.

After lunch, we took a walk to Blue Ribbon at 42 Kandahar Street to check out some Japanese chocolates. For a box of 8 nama chocolates, it’s a little pricey at $32. According to the owner, their chocolates do not contain vegetable oil. We sampled the champagne flavor. It was smooth and taste of champagne was strong. Very good.

I had one Rum chocolate at $4. A little disappointed. Was hoping to have the “oozing” effect with the rum flowing out of the shell, like a warm chocolate cake. But the taste of rum was very light and a little too much chocolate. Personally will prefer a thinner shell with more rum.

My friend had Yuzu Citrus truffle which was a little too sweet for her. ;)

    Must tries: Signature Espresso

The staffs here r super duper friendly...

I walked past this cafe n happened to see several cakes on display.

The guy recommeded the royal choc cake s he claimed dat was d richest among all d cakes available. It looks tempting.... However, he pointed to d mandarin orange cheesecake on d top shelf n told me dat this is only available during CNY! OMG! How can i miss this opportunity since CNY is jus ard d corner. I got myself dat cake n after paying for it, the staffs there thk me n welcomed me back again.... so warm.

I gobbled up d cheesecake immediately when i reached hm... there were mandarin segments on top of d cake n d cheese had a tint of mandarin orange n lemon as well, it was not very rich but smooth n melts in my mouth. I would go back again for d rest of d cakes!

    Review no 2

After my discovery, i realised that quite a number of their cakes r sourced frm rive gauche! E.g the cheesecake, oreo cheese, royal choc, mango mousse n d s/berry mille feuille. The royal choc is actually d gunaja frm rive gauche. But, perhaps they might have placed it for too long in d shelf, it seems a little dry to me.

I would rather go for other desserts such as d b/forest which i hope is not an imitation of sourced frm somewhere.

    Must tries: Mandarin orange cheesecake
