| hidden Bt Timah treasure
sought shelter here on a rainy day as I happened to be at coronation area. had previously been here once with my parents as I'd heard of the good reviews. we had curry chicken, sayur lodeh and sambal sotong (its not your ordinary sambal, I think its blended with tomato and sugar that gives it a hint of sweetness), all of which were to our liking and impressed us alot.
since I was alone I didn't have the luxury of ordering much. had curry chicken ($6) and minced pork omelette ($6) to go along with my rice. what struck me most about the dishes was that they were ordinary home-cooked fare, yet it impressed with its simplicity.
ordered lime juice with pineapple cubes ($2.50) too, it was an unconventional pairing. wouldn't say that it's the best match but the mix of sweetness and sourness soothed the spice factor in the curry/belachan (do request for it!) really well.
ambience was good too, felt like I was in a cosy little kampong hut. they also provide magazines at the counter area, thumbs up for that. service wise not bad as well, nothing extravagant but the staff was definitely courteous and hardworking (could hear them pounding/chopping away non-stop at the back), totally embodies the Asian values eh.
to sum up, it was this simple meal I had that warmed my tummy and my heart on a cold rainy day (: |

| Yummy Home Cooked Food...
Currywok offers traditional home cook dishes, spicy and other non-spicy food. They taste good and appeals to my families and friends. Their delicious century egg cold tofu and unusual “Tau Huay” soup are not found anywhere else. So, I often will go to Currywok and try their specialty – curry fish head and famous –braised Soya sauce pork knuckle. No GST and service charges, and they are also friendly. As their place is small and people waiting for table, we have to eat and go, can’t stay there long & chit chat |

| Food that warms your heart
Curry wok has never failed to impress friends when i bring them there for a meal. Its like bringing guests home to be served with mum's great cooking.Even my mum, an expert in cooking curry left the place totally impressed by its fish head curry.LOVE The speedy service, The attractive presentation of the food ,The reasonable pricing and The wide variety of food in the selection. This place has more than what its humble name seems to suggest. Must try the lime soda, with the curry and the mouth watering dessert like the teo chiew YaM paste.. remember to call to make a reservation! I have it's number and address in my phone book and its off days in my memory to avoid disappointment. Gosh.. its my 15th visit to the restaurant and i still have not got enough of the curry ! See you there. :) great to know people here feel the same way i do abt this place.. thumbs up guys! |

| Excellent Food at Reasonable Prices
Curry wok is a excellent choice for great food at reasonable prices.
The home-cook style of their culinary skills left a deep impression on me. I would say, I would rank it a second after my mum's cooking (Mummy's cooked food is the best of coz!!)
Not much of a place for ambience if you are looking for that. But simple and clean.
I have to add that the boss service is good and very personal.
Crowded on weekends and dinner. So go early if you want a place to seat!!! |
