For the full post and pictures, visit The Cinnamon Sheep! :)

What’s there nothing to be jealous of, or seductively tempted by a heavenly divine gooey thick gorgeous piece of intense dark chocolate Brownie with Walnuts drowned in a sea of warm thick Chocolate Fudge, and topped with a generous scoop of Cookies and Cream Ice Cream? (thinking of just the right adjectives to describe a perfect Brownie is mind cracking enough)

Elisa had a ’50% of any signature treats’ voucher at Ice Cream Gallery. So we made time, despite our hectic schedules, to travel all the way down to Tanjong Katong, an area slightly out of our comfort zone. Well, we definitely couldn’t give it a miss.

We had initially wanted a Waffled topped with Ice Cream as Zara was no fan of Brownies with nuts in it but the waitress recommended the Brownie and she pleaded us to have it. And yes, she successfully convinced us. And thank God she did for nothing could have been more decadent than this. Zara didn’t care for the fact that there were nuts because the brownie was just so fudgey, rich and moist, it sort of melts in your mouth. Ok, our attempts at describing the brownie really do it no justice, and our picture to, so you will just have to try one for yourself. But just trust us when we say make sure you have it swimming in Chocolate Fudge, as thick and as warm as this, and topped with a huge scoop of your favorite Ice Cream. This Cookies and Cream Ice Cream had just the right sweetness and consistency. It was smooth and creamy, and you’re sure to get oreo pieces in every bite.

Have them all in a bite and you get something so sensational.

Original price is $7.80 but we got it for $3.90 :)

Top quality ice cream here. Around $3-4 per scoop, reasonable compared to other high-end commercial joints like Haagen Daz etc. My wife loves the durian ice cream. Today is the premium durian version which gets a big thumbs up. I take the sorbets due to my milk allergy. In the past there was always 2 sorbets but lately only a single option which is a bit annoying for me, but I guess I'm a minority in this. Tried the pear riesling today and it's very subtle, clean and refreshing taste.

Read the last review on this place and frankly I didn't know that they serve. Just queued and got my scoop of Belgian Chocolate ice cream.

The flavour of the ice cream was good. It was a little too hard in terms of firmness though so it was a good thing their plastic spoons are firm. Texture wise, I thought I could feel a little graininess not sure whether it was from cocoa powder.

Overall though it is one of the better local ice cream around.

I knew that when I walked in and stood patiently, and patiently, and patiently, and then fidgeted wondering if anyone was going to serve me that this was not going to be the best dessert experience for me. However, I recognised that they were understaffed and decided to wait until served.

When I finally placed my order, I went and sit down and thought that was it, until I realised my apple crumble was not arriving. At this point, my partner's patience was tested enough but once again, I felt that as it was a Sunday afternoon, perhaps there would inadvertently be a little slower than usual.

But enough of the service, lets talk about the desserts. Overall, I will admit that service aside, I did enjoy my sugar free ice cream as well as the gula melaka flavoured ice-cream. Both had nice distinct tastes and were not sweet. I did not like the durian ice cream though and would take the concoction served by UDDERS any day.

So, forgetting about the earlier gaffes, I was going to leave as a rather satisfied customer until I was charged for three separate scoops instead of a triple-scoop. The rationale for that was that I requested for it to be in three separate paper cups so that I could taste the ice cream separately instead of having it in one cup. Now, if I had known that it was such a big deal to have it on three separate paper cups, I would have grudgingly accepted it in one cup. When I brought this up to the manager on duty, all I got was a " this is the way we do it around here" reply. So much for for customer service and recovery.

I left an angry customer - all because the place wanted to earn an extra $3. Is the $3 worth it? You the food community decide.

Saw a few reviews abt this place hence i decided to come here for my dessert.

I had Strawberry and Rum & Raisin($4.60) ice-cream & a slice of oreo cheesecake. The ice-creams were yummy. However, i did not relly like the oreo cheesecake. There were some unblended cheese visible and oreo flavour is not there.

I think i would only be there for their ice-cream the next time round.

    Must tries: Ice-creams

Valentine's Day is always an excuse to indulge, isn't it? For a late night ice cream treat, friends brought me over to this ice cream parlor which I haven't been to before.

Unfortunately, most of the more interesting flavours were sold out by the time we reached as it was almost their closing time. That said, the cafe was still full and we had to wait for a table. After some deliberation, we settled on a triple scoop ($6.50) to share. My favourite is the Rum and Raisin which was fantastic! The plump raisins were soaked with rum and burst with an alcoholic sweetness. I didn't really like the Strawberry Cheesecake and Vanilla with Chocolate Chips flavours though.

Prices are extremely reasonable since big and generous scoops of ice cream were served. The cafe mainly caters to the expatriates staying around the area with its homemade, reduced fat and sugar ice cream. I would definitely come back again to try its more delectable flavours such as Prune and Whisky, Sea Salt Caramel and Strawberry Champagne!

Rum & Raisin, Kirsch Cherry, Belgian Choc, Durian are just several flavours that I have tried here, and frankly i be back to try more!

Alcoholic flavours were really nice, probably one of the best i have tried in Singapore. Felt that the Kirsch Cherry tasted more alcoholic-ish as compared to the Rum & Raisin.

Went there on a Thurs afternoon so there was a 50cent discount on single scoops. For a price of $2.80, the scoop was really quite huge portion and value for money IMO.

This is my first posting, compelled by what I read in the reviews here.

I am no expert but to me, calling ice cream too creamy is like calling a salt fish too salty. It is what the name say it is (ice CREAM) and more is supposed to be good and not bad. Considering the main ingredient is cream, a non-creamy ice cream could well have been substituted with lesser ingredients. Admittedly, I am one of those who like my ice cream creamy and salt fish salty. I have the pleasure to try this ice cream joint recently after some recommendations from friends. The ice cream is in my opinion comparable to premium brands like Hagen Daz and B&J (it is actually less creamy than them if you ask me), and better than most other local joints which claim also to sell ice cream.

Hence, I find ICE comments rather puzzling. I suspect she could have turned up when the shop was having a bad day. Even the best of us have our bad days. ICE herself seems to understand this point quite well in her other review of Tom asking for readers to allow 2-3 weeks for the shop to overcome some operational issues (big machine?). Tom can only be so lucky to have such a big fan/ friend.

I am also guessing from her comments and her preference that she have a soft spot for less creamy and more flavoured frozen dessert. There is a name for it and its gelato, which in its original italian origin uses milk (instead of cream) and usually (not always) more flavouring in its making. Hence its less creamy and more intense but short-lived flavour. There is actually a very good local gelato place, Venezia for those who love gelato. When it comes to flavouring, I actually dislike in your face overwhelming taste. I have my views about Tom's gelato-like ice cream but I will leave it for another posting.

And for Tom's service, some call it friendly but I find the overzealousness actually distracting and feels not genuine to me. That's my reaction also to most unsolicited calls to tout insurance or financial plan.

I guess to each his/her own taste. I can only be grateful that salt fish is salty and ice cream creamy.

    Must tries: Durian

    3. sugars I certainly think there's no warrant for any name-calling here. Like you said:"I guess to each his/her own taste" -> You have your own views while I have mine on this place. Well, on my visit, and incidentally how coincidentally, the ice creams were not fresh and there wasn't even a decent amount of ice cream displaying in the fridge(S).

I've eaten my fair share of ice creams, at least all round Singapore to make such statements. I certainly do know the difference between gelato and ice cream. As for your kind recommendation on venezia, I'm very sad to inform the quality of this gelato chain has in fact gone down the drain over the years. fyi, Häagen-Dazs (oh pls do get the spelling right too) IS in fact my favorite commercially produced ice cream brand.

Please also do share MORE of your dining experiences here on HGW before you question ANY of the reviewers' credibility here.

    4. King Kong I'm glad we can agree that each to his or her own taste. I know you have posted many reviews here and presumably have more credibility. Everyone has to eat everyday but someone writing more abt it doesnt make him/her an expert per se. By that measure, every delivery man should be F1 driver as well. Anyway, I will leave other readers to make their own judgements.

If I had visited Tom just after it reopen, the product would have suck majorly I suppose (by your own review) and it would be a coincidental as well?

If you have the chance, took at the manufacture date of the commercially produced ice cream and you will know such frozen products have a shelf live of weeks or months, as long as they are properly frozen. It is questionable if anyone could actually TASTE the FRESHNESS of ice cream as you describe.

To me, empty tins can mean the ice cream sold too well for supply to catch up so it would be presumptious to conclude it has anything to do with freshness.

In any case, you are entitled to your views and I'll leave it as that.

    5. miSS pIGGy my 2 cent's worth: yes salt fish can get too salty, chocolate can get too sweet so why not ice cream been too creamy.

Every one has a different palate that's why there are many ice cream shops around to cater to everyone right?

I think ice is very credible on all her reviews. Anyway, the reviews are a refernence... i dun think anyone will believe 101% of everything they read either. *cheers*

    6. King Kong Yes, its just a review and variety is good for every different taste.

Miss Piggy says Ice review credible and Ice says Miss Piggy review credible. Coincidental?

      http://www.hungrygowhere.com/reviewer/miss_piggy/comments/

This is a question for readers to draw ther own conclusion. It is not an accusation of any kind. Btw, I have not called Ice any other names other than the one she addressed herself.

Don’t believe I actually ditched Yoguru today for this below standard stuff! Came here to check it out only coz Eunice told me this ice cream parlor’s one of her favorite haunts! Hey! Eunice! Yours is way way way much much better! There’s no basis for comparison anywhere!

Absolutely daunted. I actually struggled with my 2 scoops of Strawberry and Rum & Raisin ($4.60). 2-scoops order is my norm, it’s never too much. Moreover I came all the way here I didn’t think I was going to walk away after only tasting the mediocre ice creams. :( Got the strawberry and rum & raisin only coz they tasted edible of the lot. But they got exceedingly jeelat halfway through. It’s way too creamy I felt like I was eating “semi-frozen cream” instead of ice cream.

    What I had:

    1. Strawberry – Just ok. But I think I’ll choose Swensen’s strawberry anytime.

    2. Rum & Raisin – the only redeemable factor in this is that the rum-soaked raisins were alcoholic and still plump & juicy. And they came as whole. This only proves that raisins in R&R ice cream can, in point of fact, come whole and not freeze under low temperatures. Other places should take heed.

    What I tried:

    1. Sea Salt Caramel & Macadamia – Very Very forgettable. No hint of saltiness or caramel whatsoever. Ice cream didn’t taste fresh. eek. I miss Tom’s. :(

    2. Gula Melaka – came with red beans. Somehow I think this combi doesn’t work in ice creams. Gula Melaka base was also bordering on being overly creamy.

    3. Honey Nut – taste like erm…honey & nut? Nothing special.

    4. Durian – didn’t try this. But I think this flavor should be separated from the rest (separate refrigeration). The blueberry cheesecake I tried tasted and smelt of durian.

    5. Blueberry Cheesecake – best worst for the last! And worst of the lot! The least I could get out of this is the durian contamination. Otherwise, the texture wasn’t at all smooth. Blueberry? Didn’t even see any. Ice cream is just like sweet cream. Those people who think this is good, please go try Tom’s Palette’s version. You would be floored by theirs. This is nowhere near Tom’s!!

I wasn’t at all impressed by the café’s modus operandi. First, all 4 premium flavors like Cherry kirsch and Champagne Strawberry wasn’t available. The available tubs look like they’ve been sitting there for days. In the 2 display fridges, only less than 10 flavors were offered although 38 were listed on their website. Some tubs look so miserable the amount left in each look like it wasn’t even enough for one scoop. This is the same feedback I get from the Eastwood branch too. The total shop space (café and kitchen) is at least 3X bigger than Tom’s premises, but somebody in the kitchen obviously doesn’t seem to be interested in making her ice creams.

The only ice cream parlor Ice cream Gallery is better than is probably Cold Rock. I give 0/10 for Cold Rock. Go figure.

That’s it. Once is enough. No more ice cream for me until YOU re-open again. 2 more weeks. Man! I can’t wait! :(

Must tries: don't get me started
