Everytime I dine at Manhattan Fish Market, there's always something which gives their Western food an Asian twist - be it the sambal chilli sauce, or the way they cook their rice.
In the past there was the Weekday student meal where Fish & Chips cost a mere $5 to $6 (can't recall). Then, I already felt it was quite affordable. I recently went there and had their Triple Treat: Small Grill which came with grilled fish, prawns and squid. I liked all 3.
However, the prawns were a little on the "mushy" side, implying they are not very fresh. They also need to improve on determining the size of fish given to customers. My mom and I both ordered the same thing, but she was served twice the serving size of fish as I am! We're paying the same price for both.
They are very generous with their rice and fries. The sauce complemented the seafood well. The vegetables were very undercooked though. The carrots were extremely hard to bite - same goes for the brocolli. They need to do something about it. I'm ok with the pricing.
I love their mushroom soup very much. There's really bits of mushroom in it where I can bite. Serving size is just right. I also had their mudpie which was not too bad.
Service was also good, the waitress was attentive.
