Society Bar serves a range of premium house pours for discerning drinkers. Its signature cocktails are made with Valt - the world's first single malt vodka. They also have a bar menu comprising of signature dishes, salads and finger food.
Whenever I pass by this alfresco-concept bar / lounge (Society Bar) at OCBC Centre, I am tempted to check it out. Simply because I like the Balinese style furniture and music and outdoorish design.
I seldom take beer, but heatiness made me decide to go for something cooling so I ordered a Hoegaarden pint in lieu of my usual red wine or cocktails. Beer being beer, or rather Hoegaarden being Hoegaarden - most of you would know the gassy, bittersweet-ish taste that bubbles up within your throat, hence no need for me to go into details on the taste of this beer.
I also ordered a Grilled Pork Belly with Lime Chilli to munch on, since I was a little hungry, and wanted to check out the snacks here (who knows when would be the next time I return here, right?)
The grilled pork belly was tasty - a little "bouncy" in its succulence, very chewy, and nice saltish hints. Dipped into the lime chilli, it was really delicious - savoury jostled by spiciness boosted with hints of sour... I love mixture of flavors, really - they dance on the tip of the tongue and ignite one's appetite and mood. A little too greasy though, in retrospect - I barely finished half (would've been nice if shared with friends).

I went to the whisky tasting and it was a great venue for it. In the middle of the CBD, it's a chilled out setting for an after work drink. The food was amazing. Well prepared and presented - not to mention very tasty!
Would definitely recommend if you want something more relaxed than the usual Kinki or Fives!
I attended a whisky tasting at the Society bar recently. We were treated to a good selection of whiskies, including a very nice single malt from bowmore, but the tasting menu that we were treated to made the night. I would be happy to order any of the dishes as a bar snack, the highlight being a seafood plate with baked oysters, scallops and my personal favourite oxtail stuffed prawns. Society bar is in a great central location from my office, so will definitely be on my post work drinks list. Only complaint was that there was a bit of a wait to get started, but the staff were attentive and made sure we always had a drink.
Some friends and i went along to Society Bar for a Morrison Bowmore Distilers whisky tasting night. We were treated to a 5 course meal designed around the whisky's on offer. Before each corse the Chef would come out and explain what we had infront of us, he was friendly and really added to the whole night. The food itself was fantastic, ultimatly leading to my personal favorite part of the night, the desert which was a whisky toffee apple covered in a marshmellow foam and a chocolate bobon filled with meso and red bean ice cream. i am sure i will return here for another meal as it is placed in such a nice spot, start off a memorable might with a meal there.
