| Chicken & Mushroom Pot Pie!
Personally feel that this is the most worth while item in their list of soups/sandiwches/salads. It costs 10.50 and comes with thick chicken and mushroom soup with a hot and crispy puff on the top, also includes a glass of ice-lemon tea and some greens.
Chunky pieces of chicken with potatoes, celery, carrots, mushrooms cubes make a fufilling lunch and I will rate it 3.8 out of 5.
The current location of this outlet is bigger (next to Thai Express) than its previous location but it is still crowded, worst is that there are people who are still using those limited chairs for their bags. Quite irksome right?! |

| i love soup spoon
I LOoooOOvvEE Soup Spoon!!! No need to food review because I already give them a 10/10! hehehe.
Whenever I'd like to indulge myself but not feel as guilty, I head straight to Soup Spoon. I think it's a brilliant idea to come up with a food store that is all about soup.
I had the "Velvety Mushroom Stroganoff" - described as "feels almost like eating fresh mushrooms out of the field. The mushrooms are so smooth, they glide down the throat. This soup is overpowering with the aroma of mushrooms perfect for mushroom lovers."

| Is it chowder or "zao de"(mandarin)
2nd Time at the Soup Spoon, this time at Raffles City. Maybe I was sick so it made me cranky.
the Clam chowder was.... 1 word. THICK.
Is it Congee or chowder. Overload of the creamed potatoes.
Its so thick the cool aircon totally coagulated the soup.
YUCK.
Minestrone's ok as usual. Hearty.
Nice and quiet in the calm before evening rush hour. That's the best you can get. |

| Could be an unlucky day...
Ever wonder why on certain days that things don't go your way? Same applies to food. After numerous(satisfied) visits to Soup Spoon at any of the branches, yesterday could just be my one unlucky day.
A friend wanted a prawn wrap but they ran out of it. So we ordered a chicken tikka wrap. Mushroom soup (my fav) and spicy cheesy wedges.
The wrap was pretty fine except until my friend dug out a limp and dead looking piece of lettuce. We were thinking how long has this been pre-wrapped and sitting in the fridge.
The soup usually can't go any more wrong than this. I was surprised that yesterday's soup was very much thicker, stickier than usual. You can taste starch in your mouth while drinking it. I thought it was just me until my friend agreed with me.
The wedges was cold and soft. Looks like it has been dead for a while. I saw the effort of sprinkling paprika powder on the wedges as something redundant because it definitely does not make the wedges spicy. The sauce was a little sourish. I was making a guess if this turned sour or was it suppose to be like this "tangy".
I did not want to kick a big fuss out of this and I wonder could this be one of the jinxed day for this established place to have this kind of standard.
The ratings shall be based on this last visit. |

| i'm a souperholic!
this place has been a constant favourite for me, when i think soup i think soup spoon. that's how much i feel for this place.
beef goulash: superduper GOOD. tender beef chunks and all sorts of root vegetables in a tomato based soup. never fails me.
clam chowder: amazingly creamy. yummy.
yup, these two are my faves, cuz i like my soups chunky and wholesome! but do try the "specials" that change every fortnight or so. it's always EXCELLENT. i vividly remember a Moroccan stew and a black pepper beef stew.
those two made me literally addicted and i just kept on going back for more that two weeks. i even grabbed some takeaway and ate it over rice! *oops* i just really liked those two and have been pinning for their return, but it seems like the specials are always newly-invented soups :(
service-wise, it varies from outlet to outlet. raffles city has been pleasant the numerous times i've been there, but the RAFFLES XCHANGE outlet can get a tad curt. no eye contact and all that.
i remember once awhile back at raffles Xchange, after they started the bagged-and-reheat soup, i was so thrilled i grabbed three packs of goulash and went in queue. they asked for my order and i said i was only paying for those packets. the "soup scooper" led me to the cashier, i assumed i was led to cut the queue since i wasn't ordering anything but just paying for the soup packets.
i stood in front of the cashier and she literally ignored me as i held on to the cold packets of soup till my fingers went numb. she didn't even have the courtesy to look at me and tell me to hold on or wait. until the queue dispersed and she was attending to the final guy, she looked up and said "hold on ma'am". all i could think of was WTF is wrong with this old hag... so nonchalant and making me feel like the most insignificant person.
that about sums up service at the XCHANGE outlet, nice to people in corporate wear and dismissive to students with an inch of denim. after that, i stuck to the raffles city outlet. i wasn't about to let the bad service of a random service staff ruin my love for the soups at soup spoon. |
