You call that food?
I was impressed by all the comments and went to try up the buffet with a group of friends. It turned out to be the worst experience of dining in a hotel. What chili crabs are you ladies screaming about here? that's not crab, no meat at all, the crabs were not the type of crabs that you eat in restaurants, other than that, the sushi & sashimi were not fresh, we all ended up having prata with curry beef, thats so-so, the laksa is recommended? one of my friend tried it, seriously nothing special at all according to her.. paying SGD 39 (promotion price) per person is totally not worth it..no more next time

The Malaysian Food Fair
I had the opportunity to try the recent Malaysian Food Festival at The Square. The Square regularly comes up with themed buffets and has a very informal setting - creating an environment for people to try all sorts of cuisines while having a slow evening of chatter.
For the Malaysian Food Fair, they served the usual bunch of International cuisine such as the Sashimi (fresh and good), Roasted Lamb (a little dry) and Chicken Karaage that would suit hotel guests who are not interested in Malaysian food, but I was there to try their Malaysian delights and hence decided to zoom in on the core delights.
I started out with the duck which is my favourite bird to consume. The duck was tasty marinated in several spices but it tends to be a tad too dry. Next on my taste list was the Beef Bergedil which had a very nice blend of mashed potatoes with chopped beef - probably my favourite dish of the night. The Beef slices was a little heavy but it is clear that a lot of work went into marinating the meat. Finally, I enjoyed the White Fungus Soup which was excellent in washing down all that curries.
One would find that Malaysian food tends to be on the tougher side, so if you have weak teeth, you'll just have to stick to the International options on the table.
On a concluding note, it's still not too late to try as the festival will last till this weekend (6 July 08). And while you are there, do not forget to try their house martini - a nice cocktail to conclude a hard day of work!

Good spread of food
We went to celebrate Mother's Day, as I know it has some of the local delights such as laksa and chicken rice in their buffet spread.
The spread of food was quite good and our favourite was the chilli crab and vegetarian lansagne. The chilli crabs seems to be the faster to go but was replenished frequently.
They have a selection of sushi, cheeses and my baby could have a choice of breads to keep her busy while i was busy with the crabs.
For desserts, we like the Oscar Cake especially.
As it is newly furnished, the ambience was very modern and comfortable. The service was great too, they would serve us bowls of water with lemon to wash our hands whenever they saw customers were dirtying their hands with crabs.
Overall, we felt it is quite value for money. :) We'll definitely recommend to try it.

High Tea
After sourcing around for the prices of high tea for weekend, found this is one of the cheapest.
From the picture on the internet, the food looks appetitsing.
When we first step in, first impression is good for the surrounding. Not much customers, quiet place. A nice one if one didn't like too crowded places.
All the hot food, was only luke warm and like have been there for a long time till the spring roll isnt crispy anymore. The roti prata becomes tough. The chicken of the chikcen rice, was being chop into too big piece to look appetitising.
The only nice one is the lasksa, spicy enough!
As for the cold selection, not much choice. Sushi selection only have 3 or 4 types of sushi.
There is a freeze drink section, which came out only the drinks, but not in freeze form.
As for service, most of the staff act as if they were the supervisor, walking around only. It took me a few wave of hand to catch their attention.

Value for Money...right up to the last cent
Definitely a must-try for buffet goers... this restaurant serves slice-as-you-order sashimi, excellent cooked food (especially the nasi goreng and blueberry chicken)...
On top of that, they also had a live cooking section serving mussels served in spicy tomato sauce or white wine sauce, and pasta (the one served in olive oil was very good!)...
They even had a barbecue station where clams, squids, kangkong are fried as you order..
Dessert station had very good cakes... a pity I didn't get to try the oreo cheesecake though... none were left by the time i made my way there... but the rest of the cakes and chocolate desserts were worth the extra kilos...
Service staff were prompt and polite... each 'thank you' said by me was countered by an equally courteous 'you're welcome' by the staff... definitely more ear-soothing than the 'orrrr' I experiened at a particular restaurant at marina square...
Themes change quite regularly... the one I went was the Flavours of Asia... definitely two thumbs up!
