I can't remember whether it was a Guinness lamb stew or beef stew - but that was truly good stuff. Burger and fries were decently done as well, which makes me believe that they probably have well-functioning kitchen and cooks (not always the case at pubs, so this is a bonus). But I'd go for the stew anytime.

Ambience in the evening is great, if you are sitting outdoors under good weather (a good breeze makes a great difference). It feels like you're at some Irish countryside, even if the potted plants are plastic and the fake well seems kinda corny. But hey, so long as it looks good and feels right, I'd say - that's all fair and fine.

Next time, I'll head there with a bunch of guy pals and kick back with a pint of Guinness.

    Must tries: Guinness Stew

I'm a fan, on the whole, of Irish bars. I love the general atmosphere and good humour which they are famed for. Singapore has a few decent ones and generally do the job they are designed to do. My first visit to this place was several years ago and it was a busy night. Last night, we popped in for a quick drink on a Saturday night, en route to a local restaurant.Things have certainly changed. It was empty apart from us 3 and staff outnumbered us 2 to 1. A simple wine and Guinness request took forever to arrive and was as expected but why such miserable faces on the serving staff? did someone die?

Football on TV and I asked if they would turn the TV round so we could see ( it was facing towards the bar, only the bartenders could see it), this was promptly answered with a shrug. We asked if the too loud techno music could be turned down..again the same response.Sigh...I took this as sign to leave and then there were no customers at 745pm on a Saturday night..A first for a pub in Singapore as far as I'm aware.I can't see this place lasting much longer

$10 bucks per person. Sounds enticing?

Colleagues and I have been going past this place regularly and finally popped in for lunch 1 fine afternoon. It was pretty quiet, which was expected, given that Toucan's nestled in a corner of Duxton Hill. Not your typical high-crowd level area.

Deco was of a typical Irish Pub with tonnes of Guinness hangings, complete with wooden furniture. We were feeling comfy already.

Now for the food, the set lunch comprises of a drink, a soup and either the Beer Battered Fish, Pasta of the Day or something else which I can't remember. Grilled chicken perhaps?

I had the Fish and it was pretty good. Others were satisfied with their choices as well.

& despite being an idyllic afternoon, service staff were attentive yet non-intrusive. MAJOR plus point there.

All in all, it's a nice place to lunch at, away from the throngs of mad crowd at nearby Tanjong Pagar market.

Second visit; not bad for pub fare. I can only suspect that the owners are not familiar with the real thing – though. But then again it may be almost impossible to recreate the real thing in Asia. We had the baby back ribs & the banger’s and mash – both good. They have the usual suspect for beer on tap; large screen foolball at far end; al fresco dining available. The service was adequate, as you really didn’t (don’t) expect much from the local pub scene.

Here is a pub for football fans to enjoy live screening of matches. What is football without alcohol? Main course is not too fantastic. THere's bbq baby pork rib - $18+, shepherd's pie(mutton)- $17+, stewed beef in Guinness. Too bad no seafood dish or deserts. There's a nice Alfresco dinning area, with benches placed in a garden like setting, nicely decorated. If i dont remember wrongly, there's no chicken main course and I dont remember seeing any thing like soup. Quite Good service. Readily available waitress. Some suggestions which i think could improve: Add more miscellaneous ingrediants like carrots, tomato, or maybe salad.
