Thye Hong is a fixture at Wisma Food Republic which in turn is a good place for tourists to partake in Spore local delights without sweating it out in the heartlands.... The persistent Q is a mixture of fans, tourists and curious food seekers all salivating at the tantalizing noodles while waiting patiently for their turns..N guessed what? I was in the Q too!

My favourite hokkien mee stall is the one at Chomp Chomp... in fact i think Chomp Chomp hosts some of the best local delights such as fried hokkien mee, fried carrot cake, BBQ chicken wings, BBQ stingrays, sugarcane etc.. The infamous 45 mins waiting time hokkien mee still holds e title but i tink kim's hokkien mee is a close rival... Thye Hong on the other hand is a tad disappointing...

I like hokkien mee that is wet and that's what exactly Thye Hong is although a tad too wet IMHO... But i do liked the stock.. the stock is quite power quite flavourful quite tasty but the magic stops there... The noodles r quite soggy coz to handle the crowd they actually cooked a very big wok and by the end of it (unlucky me!) the noodles had already turned soggy due to e heat n wait...The prawns r quite fresh n firm but e sotongs r a little overcooked... The chilli does not complement the noodles in anyway and i hate it when that happens... Should have learnt from those in e crowd since there's quite a few who actually requested no chillis but more lime..

Overall i don't think this is the best hokkien mee around but perhaps the best in Orchard area but is a good place to fix your hokkien mee craving shall it hit u while shopping... Head to the heartlands for hokkien mee but if u can't wait or is a tourist, then Thye Hong is well-positioned to satisfy your hokkien mee needs!

Must tries: haha what do u think?

Can't really go wrong with this hokkien mee. It may not be the best in Singapore, but it's probably the best you can get in a food court.

The whole package with air-con and the big glass cooking display is worth the money. One of my top eats in Wisma.

Must tries: Hokkien Mee, char kuay teow

This is one of the few stalls I'd return time and again when I eat at Food Republic (Wisma Atria). There is just something different with the way they fry their Hokkien Mee. Apparently, fresh prawn stock is used in the frying of the Hokkien Mee.

    Fried Hokkien Mee (Rating: 6.5/10)

After enduring the long queue (the queue is always there), we got our medium serve of Fried Hokkien Mee. I have to say they are usually rather consistent, but this time round, it was a little too wet for my likings. However, it still tasted good.

This has to be one of my favourite hokkien mee, and probably in the eyes of many too, given that the queues here can be really long.

Yet like all the other fans, I actually bother to queue here when I visit the Food Republic @ Wisma Atria as I really enjoy prawn stock of the noodles. As I do not visit Wisma Atria often, I would occasionally order a medium portion to indulge by myself.

And guess what? For just one day only on the 22 November you can catch the original founder cooking his hokkien mee at the Big Eat Out at the Peranakan museum. I look forward to stuffing my face then.

    Must tries: Hokkien Mee

    1. Eyes > Stomach The one time I tried it...my hokkein mee got the "char ta" bits and taste in it leh
I think when there's a huge crowd...they don't clean the wok properly and the noodles that's been at the bottom for too long starts to get burnt
